Tomb Raider 1 - redone! I'm still a bit disappointed with the new sprite, she's not as weighty and precisely manipulateable (?) - too much emphasis on the looks and not the performance but still better tha Angel of Darkness i suppose. Tomb Raider always ran slowly compared to the others so getting the chance to revisit St Frances Folly and The Cistern is really

I was very disappointed by the film - not once did she run into a wall, gasp and sidestep it.

Enid · 17/06/2006 09:41
Grin
Enid · 17/06/2006 09:42

pc an ps2 but not out yet Sad

cupcakes · 17/06/2006 09:47

The music on that is very new Star Wars.

I never played the original Tomb Raider but I was a big fan of number 2. I had to abandon it when I was pg with ds as I was anxious that I would turn him into a nervous baby (I used to get scared by things jumping out at me).

I'd forgotton about it - might have to get it out again (see if I can be braver this time round).

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 10:03

Haha. The dinosaurs scared me first time round too! I'm much harder now Grin

DP said the music is from star wars..I'll take his word for it..

ROFL Cupcakes.

I used to play TR for hours. The dinosaurs scared me too, especially when I could hear them but not see them and I was playing in the dark in the wee small hours! Blush

NotQuiteCockney · 17/06/2006 10:14

Are they doing another Dungeon Keeper? B+W II was a disappointment, although not as much as B+W I.

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 10:22

Did yo ever get Ico Hunker? Or Shadow of the Colossus? I gave up on the last colossi, Too repetitive and frustrating. Lovely environments through.

Now I've finished at uni I'm going to play Half Life 2 on the pc - and can't wait for Crysis!

hunkermunker · 17/06/2006 10:55

No, didn't play those, MT. DH hogs the PS2 these days...might have to think about changing that and rediscovering it myself I think Smile

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 20:13

DP has just told me it is confirmed on PS2 but doesn't know when it's released.

NotQuiteCockney · 17/06/2006 20:37

Oblivion is good, but more RPG than the ones you're discussing, I think. (I don't mind FPS, but only with maps. Most modern ones don't seem to have maps.)

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 20:42

Far Cry had a map I think. But it was totally free roaming so you could still get lost. Very good though.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 17/06/2006 20:43

Oblivion (and Morrowind) are very free-ranging. I do prefer RPG, I like collecting stuff.

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 22:58

I don't think I even know what RPG stands for. Only just learnt FPS.

monkeytrousers · 17/06/2006 22:59

Ahh, role playing game! Doh! Like Final fantasy?

From one of the Tombraider websites....

'Former Tomb Raider caretakers Core Design have today confirmed the much touted Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition video-game primed for Sony PSP has been cancelled by SCi Entertainment and has addressed a leaked video which appeared on the internet last week.

"The video of Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition that appeared on certain sites was an unauthorised release of an internal presentation of a game that was being developed by Core Design until very recently. It was running on PSP and used a Core-developed engine. However, following a recent review this project has been officially cancelled by SCi."
'

Bugger, that video looked good - me and DH got all excited until we had a look at some of our postmarked sites.

Although it did also say....

'However, sources have suggested Crystal Dynamics will continue to press ahead with a Tomb Raider / Tomb Raider II remake with original Lara Croft architect Toby Gard leading the project.'

So maybe there is still some hope there!

NotQuiteCockney · 17/06/2006 23:18

I don't know Final Fantasy. The Elder Scrolls Series (Morrowind, Oblivion) are famous RPGs. Fable is an RPG. So is Baldur's Gate. Can't think of any other big ones off the top of my head, but there are loads.

serenity · 17/06/2006 23:25

MT - FFs are RPGs, yes.
