What sort of butterfly was it?

I saw a beautiful beautiful butterfly the other day. It was quite small and jet black with blood red markings. It was definitely a butterfly and not a moth.
Despite scouring the internet I can't find out what type it was. Any ideas?

Looks like this could be it, but it was flying around in the middle of the afternoon in a very betterfly fashion, not buzzing like a moth if you know what I mean.
