Removal company that packs AND unpacks - does it exist?

Hi

I'm looking for a removal company that will pack AND unpack our household items. I've got a colicky baby so can't be doing it on my own. Any recommendations? I'm moving from east of England to London.

I've asked the local pickfords but they said they can't unpack.

Thanks!

Can you try smaller local companies based where you are moving to?
I suspect it isn't a usual request, hence you'll need someone who doesn't have to work to a fixed price list.
Alternative would be finding someone to look after baby for while? A temporary nanny at your house for a few mornings?
Good luck with the move.

I thought every removal company would pack and unpack and am amazed that Pickfords won't! They certainly unpacked for us when we moved about 10 years ago. A local company also unpacked for us when we moved into this house. However, unpacking in removal company terms does usually mean just getting the stuff out of the boxes onto every available surface.

Have you tried Roger's Removals (North London). They were very good when we moved last.
We had the packing service and they did reassemble all our furniture. They didn't unpack for us, but I'm sure they would consider it (small local company)...

Pickfords should unpack as they do it for international moves, so I would ask . It's a pretty standard service. You pay for it of course, but in your position it's probably worth it.

Pickfords packed and unpacked for us a few years back. Do they not offer this now?

Pickfords packed and unpacked for us two years ago. Is it asking them whether they ever provide this service in your area- are they just busy on this day?!

I've had different movers pack and unpack. International moves, but shouldn't be different as the unpackers are always (usually) local.

As for unpacking, I found that its the luck of the drawer. Some unpackers have specifically asked where I want things, others have been more "relaxed" in how they organise. That said, it's definitely worth having to rearrange drawers at your leisure than staring at boxes for weeks on end!

I can't remember who we last used, but we've used Crown before and they pack/unpack. Perhaps if you search international moves then you'll get international movers, many of whom also do local too.

Make sure you take out insurance and check EVERYTHING before it expires. The disadvantage of having things unpacked for you is that it's easy to miss broken/damaged items.
