bit complicated but i will try and keep it short, for those of you who dont know I am doing a nursing degree. Our year is split into three groups A,B,C as we are a large group and we have taken it in turns to do adult/eu/community placements.

Contrary to the timetable, our group has just been told that we will be sent on placement next monday, making our next stint 7 weeks which takes our total placement weeks to 18, when everyone else will have done 17.

I want to speak to the course director but dh says that doesnt show that I am willing to learn and should be grateful for the extra week, despite the fact that it buggers up my childcare and other things I have planned for next week.

Please tell me what you think?

Honestly ? I'd do my very best to adjust my arrangement to accomodate the extra (beneficial) clinical hours. If I found I couldn't adjust my arrangements then I'd speak to my tutor and explain your dilemma.

I would speak to someone, just tell them you would love to do the extra week but you have arrabged your childcare around the 17 weeks everyone else seems to be doing.

I would definately go and talk to your course director. Tell him your childcare problems as a result of this change. I think your husband isn't really living in the real world, it's a bit of a pink and fluffy comment (IMO). You're doing a great course (which I found hard enough as a single girl) while running a family - it's a hard job. Good luck :)

whats 6 sal, we are out for 7 weeks which according to JA is balancing everyone out, but they are taking into account clinical skills weeks and stuff.
If we had clinical skills next week then everyone would have done 4 weeks study (clinical skills, maternity or whatever) and 17 weeks placement but instead we are getting 3 weeks study and 18 weeks placement.
thanks medulla, thats what I thought about dh.

I just dont wanna work another week, doing 6 weeks of full time shifts is bad enough but a week extra is just unfair

(sal, tell anyone about me ranting on here and I'll kill yer Grin Wink )
