Aargh! Removal firm forgot to turn up today!

Just needed to let off steam ? they were supposed to be here at 8 to start packing (for which we are paying them extra). When I called them at 9.30 they said they'd forgotten to give the job sheet to dispatch! Five phone calls later they might be here at 2.30. I've got an ill baby who was awake most of the night, could have stayed in bed to catch up no sleep! Please keep your fingers crossed we will actually move house tomorrow... and if you are moving soon avoid a firm called Moves. They don't.

Eddm that's terrible! Has that messed up the whole chain? Make sure you pass any costs on to them or at the very least don't pay them the full charge. Moving house is stressful enough

They have really left themselves wide open here, if they don't get it done in time and you don't complete they could be liable for any related costs, that could be a fortune depending on the size of your chain!

I bet they will be there all night packing.

Useless gits

bran · 09/02/2004 13:18

They definitely ought to be giving you some sort of financial compensation, after all they charge loads if there is a delay that isn't their fault.

Hope it goes well tomorrow eddm. After every move, except the most recent one, I have always sworn never to move again because it's so stressful. Hope you love your new house when you get there.

motherinferior · 09/02/2004 13:35

Whaaaaaaattttt???? Hopeless gits. I think we very nearly had something rather similar when we moved. Hope baby improves. Get loads of money out of them and DON'T MAKE THEM ANY TEA. Oh you poor love. xxxxx

fio2 · 09/02/2004 13:56

OMG!!! That really is bad, isnt it Hope you move goes a bit smoother from now on.....

eddm · 09/02/2004 14:17

Thank you everyone! Dh got our solicitor to put a rocket up them (he lied about how long the chain is so how much ££££ they'd be paying out hee hee) so apparently they are sending us every employee they have... will believe it when I see it.

I'm sorry but I had to smile...in my defence half my household is apparently down with the lurgy and any chance to spread a little misery is appreciated.

eddm · 09/02/2004 16:10

Glad to be of service! Bizarrely removal men don't want endless cups of tea ? maybe because they are all Scandinavian. Just as well as house is FREEZING with front door open am huddled in the sitting room with door shut.

sorry eddm (and mi stop smiling) I am in the process of moving, 3 weeks to completion and our buyer has started playing silly buggers. I hate moving house and do not want to do it again in a hurry. You have my many sympathies, because it is awful xx
