Clothes that will fit a skinny 4 year old girl?

Does anyone know of a brand of clothing that is good for skinny kids? My (nearly) 4 year old is of just over average height but has very slim hips / legs and so all her trousers /leggings / skirts fall off her even with the help of a belt. She fits 2 -3 year old trousers, waist wise but then they are all too short in the length. Help - we are all sick of seeing her 'builders bum'!

Yes I have the same problem with my 4 year old daughter. Try Hennes, the clothing is incredibly cheep, and really good quality. You have to be quite discerning as their ranges include some very 'trendy' looks more befitting to teenagers but check out their 'chiboogie'range, beautiful cotton tops and they do an array of jeans with elasticated waists.

Same problem here, too. In fact, the older she gets the worse it's becoming. I swither between builders bum and half-mast trousers! The clothes from French catalogues (Verbaudet, La Redoute, Cyrillus) tend to be cut closer to the body, so maybe they're worth trying.

Builders Bum, yes that sounds very familiar, I recently bought some Kids Stuff trousers which seem to fit really well. Dd is 4 and I bought age 3-4 - the waist is elasticated at at the back which really helps and there is plenty of length in the leg.

Have you looked at Tesco? My dd is incredibly skinny, even at 10 yrs old, but Tesco leggins seem to fit her well. When she was younger she had clothes from Next and Debenhams which seemed to fit OK. I used to always buy the stretchy leggings rather than proper trousers, which need a highly impractical belt.

Thanks for all the suggestions Have bought from most of the mentioned companies with varying results but Gymboree / Tescos sound a good bet. There are only so many dresses a girl can wear to 'Fun Factory' birthday parties!

I have the same problem with dd, she's 7½, and really is not the sort of girl you put in a skirt or a dress. Last weekend we were desperate, the only trousers to fit her round the waist were up past her ankles!

Anyway, we had a trip to our local Matalan (not expecting them to have anything). Boy, was I surprised, we came away with 2 pairs of girly trousers - one pair lilac (her favourite colour) fine cord, and one pair very pale green sparkly, both pairs a perfect fit - length and waist, and, we had to go up a size to age 8-9!!!
