ta girls..buyer at top (three up from us) wasnt told until a week before moving date that she would be moving..her solicitor's head is on the chopping block!..so with nothing done and kids as well as whole house to pack up(getting divorced too)..she said no and came back a few days later with 17th July!..we all said no way, our vendor said she was going to pull out of buying, her vendor said same!
i called agent and asked them to explain that if they pull out and have to look for something else it will take much longer than 6 weeks...vendor and vendors vendor eventually came back and said ok!
i went mad at first chucking my toys out of the pram, but i might as well have been talkking to a brick wall, cos if she cant, she cant..right?!
so thursday-frida last week we were officially told no chance to tomorrow..which meant me manically ringing EVERYONE to re-change address and cancel insallations of phone, telly electrical s etc..
and now sat here, house looking like a warehouse, with no 'summer' clothes for any of us, only half of dd's toys out..dd not back to school till next week, nitemare getting dd to school cos if dp cant get works van, the bus's round here to school area have been cancelled!..so that means taxi(which we cant afford..£12 each way!) or 5.30 am start to catch bus to get us to bus station, to catch aother bus, then 20 min walk to school!
god..feel like im gunna combust!

i feel like im in limbo..and even though i know new house/area is right and better for us all and everything we do..what witht the beautiful wether this weekend and out walking with dp and dd, spending afternoons round neighbours with kids..am gunna miss it..so feel like am torn at mo!..if we were moving tomorrow, i could get on with it!, but feel like im being tortured!..yes am very melodramatic todayBlush

I don't quite understand how you can have a moving date and then it change at the very last minute. Presumably you had exchanged contracts and a completion date agreed? If that is the case, no one can just refuse to go on the agreed date or they are in breach of contract. Equally, the vendors above you cannot now say that they are going to pull out. Unless of course you haven't exchanged contracts and were doing everything at the last minute - always a dangerous strategy.

EvesMama · 05/06/2006 10:10

no we have done everything as solicitordoes..
signed contracts two weeks ago, all solicitors had 6th on their files and our buyer, us and our vendor where about to exchange, as well as thier vendor when next person rang agent to say it was first shed heard?
as exchange hasnt happend anyone can change mid with no consequences to themSad
and this is the way we have always done it?
cos we were all ready, we would be exchanging and completing within a week or two of each other..last move, we exchanged and completed same week!

ok, rang agent and end of chain HAS confirmed that the 17th is great!!pheeeeeeeewww..
now just have to wait till she rings her solicitor, who'll then ring vendors and they'll ring mine..arrrgh HATE WAITING!!
but agent said we should be exchanging contracts this week!..so at least if thats done she cant 'just change her mind' anymore!

Oh EM!
What a faff!

I wish I could send you a punch bag or something to have a good go at Grin

We've just had 6 weeks of pulling our hair out to be told finally today that we will complete this week! Luckily we're the only ones in the chain to be actually moving.

Fingers crossed it keeps at the 17th!

(Its Nbg btw Smile)

EvesMama · 05/06/2006 20:28

What a nightmare, I remember when I was 7 months pregnant with ds we were mobing and for 4 fridays in row we were planning on moving and something came up with our useless solicitor, its not much fun living out of boxes when you have had enough and all you want to do is move and settle in.

BagelBird · 05/06/2006 20:38

you poor thing - sounds a nightmare. Can totally understand the stress of moving. We were gazumped on a lovely big home which caused whole chain to collapse and took extra 3 months to sell again, ended up buying great place but smaller as prices then rocketed blah blah.
It is a horrible process to go through as you feel so helpless and the paperwork is sooo stupidly slow. You pay these people so much money - just to write a few pre written standard letters to each other. The solicitors don’t even do the legwork - it is the secretaries that sort most of it out. I will never ever understand why it takes them over a week per letter - it is as if they are writing out illuminated scrolls with their own blood fgs.

YellowFeathers · 05/06/2006 20:38

We're not even packed yet because the removal firm are providing boxes but they won't let us book them until we have a date set [SIGH]

I was starting to panic though as I'm 30 weeks pg now so all box lifting and moving furniture aside, I was begining to wonder where on earth I would be having this baby! Grin

essbee · 05/06/2006 20:46
