Have you tried Hedrin? Its not a poison like the others, so isn't so much of a health worry. I used it on my daughter the past 2 weeks and it seems to have worked. Treated her once, then treated her again a week later.
It works by coating the lice and suffocating them apparently. I am WELL impressed with it!

You have to do a weekly comb/prevention spray as the kids will just pick them up off some other kid whose mum's not as thorough and the lifecycle is about 2wks. Or tea tree or Neem oil shampoo is said to do the job.
