According to their latest adverts, they are geared towards "yummy mummies" and mums busy on school runs and preparing toddler meals....

Interesting marketing ploy......Grin

I don't care what the ad says or doesn't say - they deliver and so that makes them nothing short of heaven - means I don't have to lug water, loo roll, bounty, dog food blah, blah, blah..

misdee · 19/05/2006 21:25

that ad makes me crease up. the first time i heard it i was with peter and we both burst into laughter. tis v v funny.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2006 21:42

That ad makes me determined not to use them. I despise it. It's so crap and twee.

spacecadet · 19/05/2006 21:45

i havent seen the ad but had a delivery from them today and was very impressed with the service, even the colour coded bags(im easily pleased)

mancmum · 19/05/2006 21:46

anything that makes me feel that a yummy mummy is fine by me -- even if it is twice price of tescos.. I want to be young slim and gorgeous with adoring kids at my ankles... and will buy the dream if I have to.. (got kids..)

bubble99 · 19/05/2006 21:49

We use them for the nursery food, spacey. Not as expensive in comparison with other online deliveries as people might think, hardly any substitutions (and when they are, they're intelligent) and everything has long dates. We tried Sainsbos and Tesco for a while and most things were date up the day they arrived.

ComeOVeneer · 19/05/2006 21:49

I signed up to them a few weeks ago and have yet to use them. They send me an email every week offering me something to entice me to place an order. Most weeks it is a free bottle of wine. Accurate for a yummymummy do you think Wink ?

ComeOVeneer · 19/05/2006 21:51

And DD says it is her "favourite advert" Blush she always sings it when it comes on the radio. (She also knows all the words to "we will rock you" by Queen)

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 19/05/2006 21:53

I heard this add on the radio, I think (I hope) it's meant to be tongue in cheek, it's to the tune of some nursery tune isn't? Anything that - in my opinion - is not inherently female, but is marketed to women really annoys me. But I might have to forgiev Ocado this one. Pisses me off how many bags they use. they put about 2 items in each wtf is that all about?

spacecadet · 19/05/2006 21:53

bubble-yes i gave up with tesco as i was fed up of receiving food that only had about a day left on it, i was pleased to see i was finally in ocados delivery area..its the first time ive ever had no substitutions!

bubble99 · 19/05/2006 21:57

I reckon we pay about £6-8 over the odds compared to Tesco etc. TBH that is money well spent as everything arrives, on time and in date. When we tried Sainsbos/Tesco I had to go shopping to buy all of the things that had gone off by the time I needed to cook with them (we have a weekly delivery to the nursery).

spacecadet · 19/05/2006 21:59

i found that even on the add note section, if i put, pleadse ensure long date, they still ignored it

ComeOVeneer · 19/05/2006 22:01

I am keen to do it as I loathe supermarket shopping but with dh's job I never know until about 5pmish wether he will be home for supper that night so I find I need to shop every day or so to prevent wastage.

SparklyGothKat · 19/05/2006 22:12

I heard it on the radio yesterday while in the car, DD2 kept saying 'yummy mummies!!!!'

Coolmama · 19/05/2006 22:15

To Thewomanwhothought.... - I spoke to Ocado about the bag issue and you can just give them back to the driver because they reuse them - also, if anything has ever gone wrong, the reponse from their Customer service is incredible - instant refunds etc - am deeply impressed.

Twiglett · 20/05/2006 08:30

ocado are by far the best .. arriving within an hour slot (normally on the hour) and delivering into your kitchen the correct food that is fresh and delicious

however .. if you have a couple of services you really should give them each a rest .. ie switch shopping because they all send you special offers to entice you back .. my last 2 shops have given me a £10 discount which brings the price down to regular shopping IMO Grin .. a friend of mine got a £50 off voucher when she didn't swap for months

SHHHH · 20/05/2006 08:34

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat, with the fear of soundng sad...It's to the tune of "I am the music man"..la la alllaaaaaaa..!!!

BTW I agree with mancmum..! I love being described as a yummy mummy..! Although I'm sure wearing trackie bottoms with baby food in my hair it's not an accurate description..! Wink.

Come on it's only an advert!!!
