Ok we are a big board gaming family

So far we
Junior party monopoly
Operation
Jenga
Pop up pirate
Guess who
Pump up pig
Buckeroo
Screwball scramble
Connect 4
Perfection
Various packs of cards

Which we all play together

And the following which Dp and I play (when we have time)
monopoly
Chess
Game of life
Cludo
Go for broke
Trivial pursuit
Boogle

Can anyone recommend so more family games they need to be suitable for 3 players and preferable for 5 or over

We play a board game most nights junior party monopoly is the favourite at the moment

sorry is still in production www.amazon.co.uk/Hasbro-390095-Sorry/dp/B00000IWD0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367955905&sr=8-1&keywords=sorry+game

But ludo is the same, usually cheaper and often found in games compendiums

lemonpuff · 07/05/2013 20:54

For adults, Upword or Pick Two, both brillant word games.

TheSurgeonsMate · 08/05/2013 08:27

Paper, you must be playing it wrong! Ludo can't match Sorry!

PaperLantern · 08/05/2013 09:12

actually it's been so long since I played either I may well be wrong

iseenodust · 08/05/2013 09:39

Fleeced (Shaun the sheep)
Callisto - very easy to understand/quite quick to play.
For when DC a bit older the Lego Hogwarts game.

HintofBream · 08/05/2013 10:15

Carcassonne fans, please can you tell me if the "New Edition" which Amazon have for about £17.50 is OK or is there an original, better version which I should be hunting for?

RueDeWakening · 08/05/2013 11:02

Definitely Catan and Carcasonne and the iPhone apps for both so you can play against the computer

DD got Whoowasit for Christmas, which is surprisingly good.

Perudo is excellent.

Pictionary is a good laugh, we had the family edition that had white board easels to draw on.

Dancergirl · 08/05/2013 12:18

I fancy ordering Mexican Train now from Amazon. Got great reviews.

Theas18 · 08/05/2013 15:29

rummikub

Theas18 · 08/05/2013 15:29

oh and we have carcassone on ipad for travel!

OliviaMMumsnet · 08/05/2013 21:29

Hi we have moved this thread out of chat so it doesn't get lost

Weallrolledoverandonefellout · 08/05/2013 21:42

Coppit. Looks a little dull on the description, but its really great...the whole family can play...upto 6 people I think

MostlyFine · 08/05/2013 23:11

Hintofbream I haven't played it before but bought that edition today after reading some reviews online. Seems its the same but has an expansion pack included called the river.

HintofBream · 09/05/2013 00:20

Thanks Mostlyfine, now I am wondering whether I should get the online version first, and get the hang of it before trying it on the rest of the family. Please could you post about how you get on with it?

cornflakegirl · 09/05/2013 10:37

Hint of Bream - it's not tricky to pick up - playing the cards is basically 2D dominoes, and playing the scoring pieces is pretty straightforward. You can work out the strategy over time.

Weall - yy to Coppit.

scissy · 09/05/2013 17:12

Here's some suggestions for the adults/when dcs are older:
Agricola
Power Grid
Small World (unusually suitable for 2 players)
otherwise I second the suggestions on here, we have all of them in our (rather massive) board game collection Blush

HintofBream · 10/05/2013 18:48

cornflake and mostly, thanks, i have bought the online game. Struggling a little with scoring, but enjoying it a lot.

FoundAChopinLizt · 10/05/2013 18:53

Hint of bream,

There are demos on YouTube of people explaining carcassone. We watched it before we played.

The iPad version is also good for learning scoring.

MummaBubba123 · 12/05/2013 07:21

Frustration

I also looooove the shop Fun Learning.www.funlearning.co.uk/

cornflakegirl · 14/05/2013 21:11

figwit thank you for recommending Sorry. I got a copy from ebay which arrived today and has already caused two arguments!

babyphat · 15/05/2013 08:13

Destination Hogwarts! DP hasn't read the books or seen many of the films but still enjoys it. Takes about an hour to play

fuzzpig · 15/05/2013 08:26

Ooh this is my kind of thread!

fuzzpig · 15/05/2013 08:54

This thread is going to cost me a fortune Shock

Right apologies for any repetitions as I'm just going to go through my games cupboard (we bought it especially to house our games... but they don't all fit Blush) but I'll leave out some that I know have been mentioned. Some are 2 player and some are 'out of print' and bought from eBay etc.

Pentago
Mrs Honeys Hat
Tuten Loot 'Em
Around the world in 80 days
Payday
Boggle Slam
Khet 2.0
Lego Hogwarts
Lego Minotaurus
Monopoly express (dice version)
qwirkle Cubes (not the same as qwirkle, it is better :o)
Yahtzee
Animal upon Animal
Battleships express
Cluedo express
Risk express
Tummy ache
Go
Stay alive
Jungle speed
Hive

I'm sure there's more. We have so many games there are some we haven't actually played yet! Blush

fuzzpig · 15/05/2013 08:55

Ooh I forgot to list Continuo.
