Whats open on Bank Holidays?

I want to meet my mum on the bank holiday on the 29th May. Maybe in York (or retail park outside York) or Hull. How much will be open? Mum says nothing I say everything!

Most places are open - supermarket cafes, M&S etc. Normal cafes/restaurants will all be open and tourist attractions will be too. Only thing that might be closed is the library and of course banks!! Some small shops too. Will be Sunday opening hours though
