What should I do with my DS's baby teeth as they fall out?!

I kept the 1st one because someone gave me a little trinket box thing to put it in.

But it feels wrong to just chuck the rest of the teeth in the bin (even my DH feels the same!), not only because he might find them when they tooth fairy is supposed to have taken them away! Though I can't help thinking it would be more than a bit weird to present him with a full set of baby teeth when he's past the age of believing in the tooth fairy.

Has anyone given any thought to this - any ingenious ideas for utilising the baby teeth?!

Fucking hell! Chuck them in the bin. Seriously. (Unless you allow your small child to rummage through your black rubbish bags he is unlikely to 'find' them.

Do the coke experiment and then report back. I want to know if teeth really do disappear if they marinade in coke overnight.

Keep them all in a freakishly unattractive jewellery mini chest of drawers thing your ILs gave you. Wait till you have 4 DC and they are all either adults or quite old and the drawers are bulging with dead teeth. Then wait until your youngest stumbles across them one day.

That's what I did and it worked a treat. DC4 is recovering well.

keep them! i've kept all my DDs', mainly for the adoreable notes they wrote to the tooth fairy with pictures of castles made of teeth, fairies etc. just cram them in a wee box at the back of the wardrobe. i intend to look mine out in a fit of nostalgia when my kids are being big & stroppy, and bubble about how they used to be small & adoreable haha!

I've kept the first ones, together with the bits off the first haircut. The rest went out with rubbish after the Tooth Fairy had done her bit.

My mum kept all my baby teeth (apart from one I swallowed - she wasn't that desperate to have a full set). They are in a trinket box in the living room.

Neolara- it definately works. Did it at school years ago and it took a couple of days iirc but it definately dissolved it Confused went all brown and yucky first.

My mum kept all my teeth and it was a bit Shock when she showed then to me. We chucked them all apart from one. Not really sure why we even kept that!

I kept the kids in a little jewerlly box in their baby box stuff in the loft. Then in the loft one day for something else i got distracted by their baby things and opened the box (real stiff snap shut type) it sprang open and all the teeth flew over the loft! The loft isnt boarded out so i cant find them at all. We always laugh and say any new neighbours will freak when they start to find teeth in the loft and get the csi lot in. :)

My Granny made earrings out of my Dad's baby teeth and my poor sister inherited them.

She had to wear them to the funeral and will have to keep them forever, probably have to pass them down to her children, blergh!

I kept every single tooth from 2 DSs and they are 13 and 11 now. I found them all the other week and binned them after realising I was in fact bonkers for doing it. Confused

I'm keeping my kids teeth (in a little box). I also have the little clips they put on the umbilical cords and a bit of ds's cord ( he is six).

umbilical cord?! keeping teeth is revolting enough. Still, better than the 'baby's first dirty nappy' that some people keep I suppose

I've been thinking the same thing, what to do with them?

So far, DS swallowed 1 but all the rest I've got in a little box. I feel heartless chucking them but pointless keeping them...

I haven't missed them since i chucked them JKS.

I have the hospital bands, scan photos and all the new baby cards for both DC. I have a newspaper each from the day they were born. Got it all down to show them and they couldn't have been less interested. Feel like chucking the lot TBH.

I just don't think I'm ready to chuck them yet.
I can't imagine DS1 will do anything else with them though whenever I get them out to show him!
But hey, I'll hold onto them for now.

I know a friend with older DC and she had to clear her loft for insulating. She got out all the bits she'd kept over the years and all 3 threw out everything. She was quite :( but it was their stuff & their choice. I suppose.

They are 11 and 13 now, I just can't see them ever wanting the 'new baby' cards. My Mum hasn't got my hospital bands, new baby cards etc. as for the newspapers they can look at them online probably.

And there's a half filled in baby book for DS1 and no baby book at all for DS2. Blush

I've kept them all so far (5 of them) but DS found them in my jewellery box and I had to say that they were mine from when I was little that my Mumf forgot to give to the tooth fairy. Have also kept the umbilical cord clipShock

I have heard that there is an old tradition to bury them in the garden so the fairies can't steal them and cast a spell on your child. Bit of nonsense, but might feel better than binning them?

And he's so excited about each one I can't just chuck 'em in the bin.

Everyone has different experiences I guess, we moved loads of times when I was little and in the process I have hardly anything.

So far, each DC has a box with various cards, papers, hospital bands, etc. in. And then teeth are starting a new thing, only DS1 so far.

And I have a diary for each that I fill in for each Christmas & birthday & any illnesses, etc.

But i enjoy reading back through even if they don't when they're older.
My mum managed a couple of entries for me and I love re-reading them.
