Eavesdropping on a young couple in the video shop this afternoon - she was wearing rather skimpy clothes for such cold weather and his trousers appeared somewhat large for him so his boxers were on show for all to see - she pointed at a horror film and said "that's well fat/phat?" and he said "yeah, I sh*t me load half way through."

Is this how young people go about the business of courting these days ?

coppertop · 27/01/2004 22:08

It's a small world! I spent most of my library time in the basement area where all the coffee machines were. We probably even bumped into each other!

I feel all nostalgic now.....

bunnyrabbit · 27/01/2004 23:40

Hate to barge in... but on the subject of not wearing much, I remember getting off the coach from a college disco in lace tights and basket weave sandals and walking a mile home in the snow!!!

Yes I was A**e cold. Am now 36 and feel ashamed! Why oh why do we do such things?

i am one of said girls in newcastle who wears no coat to go out its just not allowed!!

gingerbear · 28/01/2004 08:58

I think I have always been old......

I never went out without a coat, now I never go out

Bozza · 28/01/2004 09:13

I used to find that the trick was to have a few vodkas while getting ready then you didn't notice the cold as much. It would take more than that now - I'm sure my blood has got thinner. Had a battle this morning to persuade DS it wasn't t-shirt weather so maybe its true.

popsycal · 28/01/2004 17:25

Beccarollover why don't you geordies wear coats? Is fleshly display in adverse weather conditions part of your mating rituals?

coppertop · 28/01/2004 17:37

I've been called mad before. No, seriously though, I'm not the ex.

sorry coppertop

zebra · 28/01/2004 17:59

DH dashed out to return a video at 10pm last night... he returned with bulging eyes over the mini-skirt one lass was wearing, and precious little else. Upon reflection, decided it didn't even qualify as miniskirt, merely a belt she had on.

coppertop · 28/01/2004 18:01

No problem, Popsy. After all those spooky coincidences it's no wonder you were worried. Was she a bit of a bunny-boiler then?

marthamoo · 28/01/2004 18:48

Tummy-showing crop tops were before my time but I did wear some barely-there mini skirts in my day (but always with black tights and Doc Marten boots). Even if my tum didn't resemble a map of the London underground these days (oh, how I love my stretch marks ) I STILL wouldn't wear a skinny old crop top. One of the nicest things about being 34 is now I wear what suits me, what's comfortable, and what keeps me warm (or cool). It's soooo lovely not caring about keeping up with the latest fashions, or whether I look trendy enough to be in with the in-crowd - I wouldn't be 17 again if you paid me

Anyone remember the Reeves & Mortimer sketch about Geordie of the Antarctic who pulls a sled loaded with cans of lager to the South Pole?

My dh did this on the way home from the pub one night when it was cold, he took off his jacket and put it over my shoulders, then for the hell of it took off his shirt too and proclaimed that he was Geordie of the Antarctic (in Herts).

Normally we just rely on the beer coat

Janstar · 28/01/2004 18:52

by the way he was 38 at the time!

spacemonkey · 28/01/2004 18:56

ROFL janstar

popsycal · 28/01/2004 18:58

coppertop - yes she was very much a bunny boiler!!
