Dd1 has always been the same, she will chat quite happily and profusely when she is at home or with her friends, and will talk to me normally when she is the company of others, however, when she is spoken to directly by another adult (for instance, a teacher, a shop assistant, a waiter, even aunties and uncles) she speaks in barely a whisper, even just mouthing the words sometimes, but with nothing coming out. I have always put it down to her being shy, but have to admit always thought it was quite extreme. However, since watching House of Tiny Tearaways this week, I have been struck by the similarities between her and the little boy on there with SM. Does anyone here have any experience of this? Do you think there could be more to it than just shyness?
