How do you feel about people housesittting your home while you are away?

Bloody DH has asked his mate to housesit while we are on holiday without even asking me first, I hate the idea of someone staying in my house when I am not here, plus it means I have to hide all personal stuff and make sure its all perfectly clean before we go, which is in 6 days and I have'nt done a thing yet.

I would hate it and I'd bite my DH's nose off if he ever, ever, ever organised this for us.

I'd be very pleased, provided it was someone reliable who would look after the house and water the garden! DH worries incessantly about break-ins and drives me mad when we do go away (usually I get round this by going away without him).

The other thing is, we only moved here 6 months ago, we have'nt done a thing with our bedroom yet, and its seriously dire, the wallpaper that is left on the walls is filthy................its embarrasing, tempted to tell him to sleep in one of the kids rooms, as they are all beautifully decorated, but dont think he would like to sleep in a high rise bed or a pink and lilac roomGrin

I wouldn't like it. I couldn't bear to think of someone snoopingh through my grundies drawer

Strip your bed and as you're running out the door ask him if he minds sleeping in one the kiddies beds because the sheets are clean and you haven't had time to dress your bed. Do you think he'll go through your stuff, try on your undiesGrin

Absolutely no way. I am totally territorial and I would hate the idea of anyone else staying in my house. I know loads of people who are really laid back about stuff like this but I don't care, my house is my house. Tell your DH to phone his friend and say "thanks but no thanks".

Oi!
I'm housesitting atm - a two-year stint of it.
Can hand on heart say that we've never sought out their undies.
Wink

I like to have people house sitting, dodgy area and all that, means that nothing will go missing from my garden
