We're off to London Zoo on Saturday for dh's birthday. We thought that we would drive to the outskirts and train/tube in.

Any recommendations as to where to aim for?

dpeneds entirely where you are coming from. Could you add a bit more info?

I used to park at Turnham Green sometimes (coming in from the M4 west). You could usually find a space there, but that was several years ago now.

To get to Regents Park go on bakerloo, i think you can park around harrow and wealdstone station which is on the bakerloo.

Otherwise, get a tube to Baker Street and then take a bus, by going to Baker Street you have a few more options of which tube line to take: Circle, Hammersmith and City, Met, Jubilee and Bakerloo,or take the met line to great portland street, cross over the road to albany st, and then turn left onto chester gate and you will get into Regents Pk which will lead you to the zoo.

I like the latter as you get to walk past all the gorgeous regency houses!!

It all depends on where you are coming from, and where you know or think you can get to.

Many thanks ladies. I forgot to say we were coming from the west - M4 or M40! (Motherhood! I used to be sooo efficient!)

London zoo have parking for about £9, it's also outside of the congestion charge zone...Have a look on the London Zoo website

There was a whole detailed thread recently started by Emkana about travelling to her consultants appt, and parking in W London.

The tfl website has a list of tube stations with parking.

Blu · 12/05/2006 17:24

Congestion Charging doesn't apply at w/e.

We went to London the other day and came in on the M 4. Following recommendations on MN we parked in Hammersmith and then took the tube - it worked fantastically well, would do it again definitely.
