DD starting secondary school after the summer what should she wear

My DD will be going to secondary school after the summer and I need advice on what to let her wear. The school won't let them wear jeans but my DD is wondering if the skinny jean style school trousers from next would be ok www.next.co.uk/g386502s6 just click that link and share your opinion.

Shoes is also a tough decision she wants slip on shoes (strap shoes are in her opinion babyish) are there any "cool" boots she could wear. School bags isn't hard at all as backpacks are actually cool at her school. She wants a jansport or vans bag could anyone show me one that a 12 year old girl might like.

Well, it depends on the individual school, but they wouldn't be allowed at any of the schools I know. School uniformed trousers are tailored trousers IME, jeans/fashion trousers of any description, however you dress them up namewise, are not 'uniform'.
At my dd's schools boots aren't allowed. Some wear slip ons, a lot wear lace ups (kind of like brogues) and plenty of Yr7s wear shoes with a bar across.
Bags vary at my dd's school, but messenger bags seem the most popular.

My school doesn't allow fashion trousers so the ones in your link would be out. Boots aren't allowed either. Most girls wear ballet pumps (and get cold feet).

The jeans wont be allowed. Doesn't matter the style, jeans are not allowed. You just have to look at the back in the link and see they are jeans.
Boots check with the school.. Shoes, ballet style or kickers.

Can I mini-hijack and ask what shoes do your girls wear that aren't basically sandals? Dd has been wearing boots to primary for years (we live on a snowy lane!) so ballet-style or thin-soled brogues really won't cut it.

Are kickers usually acceptable; does anyone know a state school that wouldn't accept them?

Sounds like you are not in the UK.

ALL the schools I know are Very strict on uniform so you will not be able to get away with what you are thinking of sending her in.

I bought my DS a jansport backpack for school. It was deemed "tragic".

Schools are usually quite specific about girls trousers, and boots aren't allowed.

I am in Scotland and there is a uniform but the schools most strict part is the tie that everyone has to wear all the time. My DD got a school handbook and it tells you most things but there is not a clear uniform list.

I have managed to convince her that the skinny jean style is not a good idea and now I am trying to convince her to get trousers like the ones she wears to primary school but she won't hear of that as she has been complaining that her school trousers make her look short as they are rather baggy. Now she is suggesting straight leg school trousers earlier this year she tried to get me to buy her those skinny tailored school trousers from M and S but they just looked horrible. Can anybody tell me where I can get straight leg school trousers that can last.

Any shoes are allowed as long as they are not trainers and are black. The school has a black and white tartan skirt that is not compulsory but she actually wants it. For school right now she doesn't usually wear a skirt or trousers she wears city shorts most days with black tights and because she wears them most days she wants to get shorter school shorts. The shorts she wants go down to just below the middle of her thighs.
