Just that really, had to take this the other day but was near the 72hour mark and now can not stop thinking about it. Was near the 72 hour mark as I could decide what to do Sad

me!

condom failure whilst in europe on a trip about to fly back, took it very near the 72 hour mark and had a BFP about 2 weeks later.

i later miscarried at 10 weeks.

bluejelly · 10/05/2006 12:03

Friend of mine got pregnant that way... she had an abortion...
You feeling ok?

Esmummy · 10/05/2006 12:04

Did you want honest answers S&T ?
Easier said than done I know but try not to worry, you will know for sure if it worked in a couple of weeks.

sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:05

bit crap to be honest - it would be a disaster if I did, but can't help thinking that it would also be nice, as I know DP will never agree to another baby, and I would like one - just not now

Me. DS the result.

I rang the helpline, mainly because when I first took the MAP 15 years ago, they used to warn you that the effect on a pregnancy might be bad. The helpline said that things were different now, an established pregnancy would not be affected and no harm would result. So it only prevents implantation I think.

HTH - probably not! Sorry.

sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:08

sounds like that later you take it then the more likely, as it said in the leaflet. And they charged £25 as I couldn't get to the DR's in time!

OP posts:
sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:09

so, should I start taking folic acid and lay off the booze just in case?

OP posts:
bluejelly · 10/05/2006 12:16

I guess so...

sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:18

can't believe how many people its caught out!

OP posts:
bluejelly · 10/05/2006 12:19

It has worked for me on several occassions though, but no it's not perfect... have you talked to your dh about it?

EvesMama · 10/05/2006 12:19

my friend has a 6 year old due to this problem!Shock

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 10/05/2006 12:19

Yup it really fucked me up recently.

chapsmum · 10/05/2006 12:21

sick and tiered if you were ever to be in that situation again it may help to know that you can have the coil fitted up to 5 days after unprotected sex as a emergency contraceptive measure.
TBH oral cotraceptive will not stop ovulationif it has occured or feritilisation, it changes the lining of the womb to try and stop implantation. By day three this may have already happened if you had ovulated.

sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:22

yea, he knows, and he was shocked last night when I said it wasn't 100%. He actually stood there while I swallowed the f**king tablet as he didn't trust me to take it, as he knows I would have another baby and I know he wouldn't. Bloody condoms!

OP posts:
sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:23

I would have ovulated - its happened just the right (!) time for that Shock

Well, time will tell

chapsmum · 10/05/2006 12:25

hope you get the result YOU want SAT

sickandtired · 10/05/2006 12:27

thats just it - I don;t know what I want Sad

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 10/05/2006 12:29

If HE does not want another child he should have himself sterilised and allow for you to move on and have kids w/someone else instead of forcing you to take medication you don't want.

gees, at least my ex-bf took responsibility for what happened and agreed to support my decision to have a baby, even though i later miscarried.

i really hope it all works out for you, S&T. best of luck.

Kidstrack · 10/05/2006 12:31

when a freind was 16 , i went to the docs with her to get the morning after and she had to take a pill that afternoon at 12.30pm and another 12hrs later at 12.30pm, she was fine with the first one but the later one she was sick almost immediately, she now has a 8yr old daughter

bluejelly · 10/05/2006 12:31

SAT- I've had two accidental pregnancies, both of which caused me huge stress and heartache. The first one I terminated, and I'm so glad I did. The second one I kept, and I'm so glad I did. You can have a happy ending whatever happens xxx
PS try not to worry too much you may not even be pregnant-- or does sick and tired refer to your symptoms?

wannaBe1974 · 10/05/2006 13:13

Try not to worry SAT, with every form of contraception there will be those who will tell you that it hasn't worked for them, nothing is 100% fail safe, but reality is that there are more people for whom the morning after pill has worked than who have fallen pg after taking it. One thing I will say though is that the MAP can delay your AF, so try not to get too worried if it is late. I took the MAP once after a condom failed, DS was 13 months and getting pg was not an option, although if I had got pg we would have dealt with it then, but my AF was nearly a week late that cycle even though I had been having regular 28 day cycles then. Think the packaging does warn that period can be delayed though.

As for your dh not wanting another baby and standing there while you take your medication, I would have a serious talk with him about whether there is ever going to be another baby, and if he feels so strongly that he doesn't want one, I would urge him to be sterilized. If he doesn't want another baby, then he should take responsibility to ensure that there isn't another one.

good luck x

Yummymum1 · 10/05/2006 13:54

SAT, am in exactly same position as you and worried sick!Have 2 ds and dont want any more although obviously will just have to deal with it if positive.Reading all these msgs has made me disheartend.Thought it would be ok but now not so sure.Chin up tho, might still be nothing :)

sickandtired · 11/05/2006 08:23

yummy - I have two ds's too, just a year apart at 2 & 3 so it would be very hard work to have another one now, but as you say its just a wait and see game.

I have told DP to get himself down the quacks if he wants no more children, cos at the end of the day I am not going to get myself steralised when in reality I would have more if it was an option - as we all know, you never know what the future holds.

Yummymum1 · 11/05/2006 13:28

SAT After reading all msgs yesterday i rushed to boots to buy preg test(first response as you can test up to 4 days before af and it was neg.But %rate accuracy 4 days before only 69% so not celebrating yet! Will wait till nxt week and try again if nothing in meantime.Have also told DH to get to docs as never want to be in this pos again!!!Hope you ok :)
