If they didn't experience pain, you mean, is that what they're saying?

If that's the thrust of it, I want to get straight in there and say that for some the pain of labour is not at all productive; it wasn't for me, after 50 hours of regular contractions every 5 mins on average, I was still only 7 cms dilated and my baby was in severe distress. Pre the age of medical interventions, all my pain would have produced was either a dead baby or a dead baby and mother........

For a normal labour though, yes labour is a productive pain but I certainly wouldn't have felt deprived if it had not hurt!!! Not at all!!!!

It's all clicking in to place!

That's why the midwives left me alone all the time, and why they never said anything positive and encouraging!! They were trying to ensure that Labour was as painful, hard and grim an experience as it could possibly be, so that I didn't feel deprived. Ahh, bless 'em...

Ahh.....and just when I thought my opinion of the midwife profession could not go any lower......No wonder women want elective c-sections to get away from these dragons.
