Many of you know I posted about DS's friend who had been diagnoed with osteosarcoma of his knee age 15yrs. (He actually had his 16th birthday this month).
After 2 courses of chemotherapy he had his tumour removed today which was a day earlier than expected. I spoke to his dad tonight and he sounded so much better. The tumour has been removed and he has been given an artificial knee which is fantastic (There was a fear that he might need an amputation).
The brilliant thing is he is pain free because he has an epidural that was put in when he was asleep. It is such a relief to know that the cancer has been removed. He still has a road to go but the relief in his Dad's voice made me want to cry. He has to endure 4 more cycles of chemotherapy but thankfully the cancer has been duly binned

Thought I'd update you. After the successful op he got home 2 days earlier than expected. He was told the earliest anyone had got home was 10 days so he decided to beat that Despite such invasive surgery he has no pain at all. He had his epidural in for 4 days the was given voltarol and paracetamol to reduce onset of pain but he hasn't fely any. Isn't that amazing. The wound is healing really well too. His mum has decided he can go to the concert so I have booked disabled tickets for him and 3 of his friends are allowed to be with him.
Thanks to suzywong for all her efforts in the background.
It is so good that he will have something to look forward to before the next course of chemo which will start 5 days after the concert. They are all so positive now which is so fantastic

Well they are at the concert tonight. Doesn't finish till 11pm. Hope their view is OK - DH wasn't allowed to go in to make sure they were seated OK because he didn't have a ticket. He's hanging around up there becaue it is almost an hour away from home. He's begged me not to drink all the red wine so that he can have a glass or two when he gets home. Don't know if I will manage that

Well they had the most fantastic time - gig was brilliant and their seats were fine. Lee even managed to stand and dance. Fabulous. Chemo starts again on Wednesday (it has been brought forward). So glad he was well enough to go and see the band live
