You know the ones with the naff advert on the telly lol.

Anyway been thinking of replacing a few windows in the house and they knocked at the door, coming round later to do a quote, will of course get others in to quote as well, just wandered if anyone had used them or had any comments.

No but am curious as to how much our house would cost to do. Reluctant to approach the likes of Zenith cos they won't leave you alone afterwards. On market atm but agent thinks it would help to be able to say the potential cost to redo.

I got a quote from them a few years ago now, it was expensive and they said that that would only be the price if I signed up there and then! They said that if I didn't sign up immediately, I would be charged more. I told them to piss off. I refuse to be bullied like that! A lot of the big companies do that.

If I were you, I'd ring them first and say look, if someone comes round to give me a quote, will I be told that the price is for today only?

I just had all 1 huge bay window (and I mean HUGE), 1 huge "normal" window and 2 large windows replaced and a new front door and frame, for £2.5K by using a general builder i know - it is defo worth asking if you know any good builders.

Safestyle always try the hard sell.

DH asked them for a quote once (I went nuts!) as they assured him they would come and measure up and then send a quote by post.

Instead we had the bloody sales guy here for an hour, DH was too polite to tell him to bog off. He even tried the 'I'll ring my manager, see what he says' trick. I took the phone off him, told his manager to cut the crap and shove his windows were the sun don't shine.

That got rid of them.

lol @ saintgeorge,

My dh won't take any nonsence, i only agreed to it as we have been thinking of doing ti for a while, just not actually got round to ringing companies and I thought it would be too good to miss.

Sometimes I can cringe at the way my dh deals with the likes of double glazing salesman, but after what I have heard I think I might get some pop corn and sit back and enjoy.

I don't like their sales tactics either, so I wouldn't buy them even if their windows were any good!
I particularly remember Zenith though, as they wanted to measure up my baby son's bedroom while he was asleep in there - excuse me? They were soon given the boot!

Safestyle have a reputation around here for taking your old windows out, then buggering off for a fortnight before coming back with the new ones in dribs and drabs, therefore leaving you with the wind whistling through your house and plastic taped over everywhere! They say they will finish the job in a week, but they actually mean 5 working days spread over the course of up to a month if you read their small print!

secur · 05/05/2006 12:48

They gave us a "tonight only" quote, we said no, over the course of the next two months they kept ringing and the quote was reduced by over 50% to try to get us to buy - but I decided that the hard sell approach made them a no-no, unless they had offered to do it for free of course!

well I think thats final, not one post with anything positive to say about them.

From what I have heard DH has not had a great day at work, oops for salesman........not Grin
