Why is my pc running soooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwww?

And I mean slow, about 3 minutes to load a page, have checked for virus's etc.
If anyone knows what I can try, I need an idiots guide please, dont know the first thing about computers

And obviously I will take about 5 minutes to reply.

Who's your ISP waterfalls? I've had a problem with mine recently and it was a BT Help download causing it. Uninstalled it and it's fine.

Have you checked for Adware and Spyware?

Ahhh, spybot search and destroy is what I have already tried, but no problems were found

have you looked in 'Add & Remove Programmes' for stuff that shouldn't be there?

assuming you have Windows click on the 'start' button then 'add/remove programmes'

Have you emptied the cache and temporary internet files, these can constipate your machine!

we had the same problem over the past few days and it was because DH downloaded a HUGE file which took us up to our limit of downloads (broadband too). We were slowed down til the end of the month.

Yes, our is back to normal speed now, so must have been the same problem, turns out dh has been downloading films
