My Mil can be the most tactless of people at times. Blundering on in a laughy/jokey way. I wonder sometimes whether she actually knows she's doing it though and it's really deliberate.

She has about tow or three breaks or holidays a year. Well good for her. Really, that's fine. She's also big on lunches and days out. Whoopie doo.

The chances of us having a nice relaxing break are nil and she knows it. Well ok, we've got a young family and all that but even so, you can dream.

So why, why when she goes away does she have to ring up from whichever far flung 'fantastic' venue she's at to tell us about all about it in graphic deatil every sodding time?? 'It's lovely.' 'Great for families' 'You'd love it here' 'I love it here' On and on and on it goes while I'm surveying the irorning and washing pile.

She's away for 10 days atm. Only ten days. But she's rung up twice. Dh has only just put the phone down on a 25 min call which must've cost the earth. She's back Monday fgs.

I am sick of having my nose rubbed in her bloody holidays.

Thank you for listening and yes I'm jealous too!Grin

Bah. Evil Woman.
I've heard of worse MIL's, but still..
One of our 'friends' is very good at telling us how easy she had it with her DD, I just bite my tongue ..
I say the next time she says how much you'd love it you retort with "well xxxx you're more than welcome to take us and share in all the delights".
That might shut her up :)

My in-laws do, honestly, ring up/text more often when they are abroad than when they are in England. Normally in England they are in touch about once a week, when abroad it is at least every other day, if not more.

And while we are in the lucky position of being able to scrape together the money for two weeks in France this summer, it's always "we're just sat having an apperitif before dinner" and all that sort of stuff that no matter where you were, you wouldn't be doing with a 5yo and a 1yo. We'll be ringing and saying "just finished our 57th game of boules, but DS and DD had a row about who had the red ones".... Grin

My mother's the same, TinyGang. Used to send post cards from her holiday spots, when we were skint, and she couldnt help with babysitting cos she was off on her hols, and she actually forgot to forward a much-needed cheque to me till after her blinking holiday once!
