want to get DS a chess / chequers set .. you remember the kind .. wooden board with counters and pieces ... also wanted ludo

so I'm in Toys R Us .. plastic crap upon plastic crap .. hungry blinkin' hippos eating plastic balls .. but any traditional games anywhere?

You want John Lewis or somewhere, missus. I do know exactly what you mean, though.

Actually, go \link{http://www.mailorderexpress.co.uk/\here}, stick "draughts" into the search box and bob's yer uncle.

Grin ... you comin' back to the ol' smoke any time soon?

am absurdly mortified that I have turned draughts into chequers in a mid-atlantic sort of pastiche Blush

I will be down for 3 days in June, but sadly I have to work so hard that I get no time for socialising. I know, violins out please. I should just come down for a weekend really, shouldn't I :)

Lidl, amazingly - I got lovely wooden folding backgammon and chess sets there a few weeks ago. They also had solitaire and something else. (None left now of course so not much use me telling you but they might get some more in. They cost something silly like £5.99.)
