why? some people who are starting a pond might actually have a use for that.

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 19:33

I think it a general rule of all freecycle groups that living creatures are not allowed to be listed.

misdee · 26/04/2006 19:35

but its spawn lol. a kitten was offered on another group and that was removed straight away, which i understand. but frogspawn? hehe.

i am getting severeal moderator messages a day, its really annoying.

blimey.
love the idea of freecycle but got bored of endless update emails (even just the summary ones).
talking of tough moderating, the breast cancer care forums' moderators are ferocious. they won't give out other people's emails even when permission has been given. they keep posts from new people in quarantine for a few days while they check that they are alright.....i know it's a health issue, but FGS.

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 19:36

It's the old argument though that if they bend the rules once, they might have to bend them again. So blanket ban on anything living.

I left my local freecycle group becasue I only ever read on the web and they would not allow me to subscribe as nomail.

All my other yahoo groups are nomail except for one I moderate. Also the moderators seemed to lambast people for no reason at all.

A bit power crazy I think.

misdee · 28/04/2006 22:41

i am on 2 freecycles groups, welwyn and stevenage. stevenage one is more in use, but hardly any moderators messages, welwyn one is starting to annoy me.

you can change your settings not to receive the emails

JanH · 28/04/2006 23:00

Not worth not getting the emails I'd have thought. We just got a nice sofa from ours. (Hole in loose cover but fine otherwise!)

misdee · 28/04/2006 23:03

exactly. i dont midn getting the emails, I pciked up 2 items recently as had the emails come through. just dont expect loads of moderator messages daily. its a fairly new group so am hoping it dies down a bit.

new one for today...

If a member fails to collect on an agreed date and time then please
re-post. I personally do not put taken till the item has actually
been collected. I hope this has clarified things. Thank You

whereas i feel it polite to put taken=subject to collection.

Someone offered a free range bunny on our freecycle group. I posted a wanted advert for a pair of kittens for a friend.
Neither posts had any problems.
I have just got my ds a sink that goes over the bath off of the site:).

FrannyandZooey · 29/04/2006 22:07

The idea on freecycle is that the things offered are things that would otherwise go to landfill. Frogspawn doesn't fall into that category. I think they have to be strict otherwise it turns into eBay.
