What perfume for my 65 year old mother who used to wear Youth Dew?

The perfume thread reminded me of something I was going to ask here. My Mum is doing some babysitting for us in a few weeks time and I thought as a change I would possibly buy her some perfume as we will be going through the Duty Free. She hasn't bought perfume for years and the last time she bought Estee Lauder Youth Dew.

Can anyone who 'knows perfume' tell me which other scents would have similar appeal (but hopefully smell nicer, never liked Youth Dew myself )?

Youth Dew was sort of spicy but heavy, wasn't it? (Used to make me feel faint if I was near someone wearing it in the morning!)

Samsara (Guerlain) is roughly the same kind of thing but lighter. Very nice! ("Roughly" not exactly perfumier language!)

Is the purple poison similair?

Sounds like the ones that suit me then. I used to wear Opium and now Champs Elysses. I seem to suit the spicy, heavy ones. Anais Anais smells like cat pee on me. I think I'm rambling, so hopefully this will bump it for you so someone more knowledgeable will come along.

I think she liked Samsara but never actually bought it so that's an idea. Going to write these down.

Obviously if I can get her into a dept store before going away I'll try and get her opinions but I can't see this happening, both our schedules are tight at the moment.
