We have a rat outside, so we got a humane trap, as we don't believe in killing animals, but now the rat is in the trap, and dh is at work, so I've got to pick the trap and rat up, put it in the car when I go to pick up dh, so that he can release it. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!!!!

Musica, I hate to say this but we found humane traps useless. We had one for our mice, but didn't seem to matter how far away we released the little blighters they still seemed to come back, or their offspring did.
We had to use poison, which was horrible, but it sure cured the mouse problem.

musica · 15/01/2004 18:19

Well we're taking it about 10 miles (we're going that way anyway), so I don't think it'll come back. We had mice too, but they were in the house, and we managed to get rid of them humanely. Oh well, better go and get this creature....I was seriously hoping it would get caught when dh was home!

Musica,

Can't you wait till DH comes home and then send him on a trip?

OMG! Trying to think of something supportive to say but can't think of anything as I am a complete rat phobic. I would be PEEING my pants. I would def leave for dh to do

musica · 15/01/2004 22:19

Well I did it. I couldn't wait for dh, as we were going out for the evening and I didn't want rat to die after all the trouble of catching it in the first place. So I armed myself with a stick and a plastic bag (so I didn't have to actually touch the trap), and at arms length got it into the car. Mind you there was the point when it jumped and tried to bite me (I was out of reach) and I just started screaming in the garden....hope the neighbours weren't listening!

But rat is gone and happy - dh released it into the countryside and we are rat free!!!!

ks! Musica, uugh, you're a braver woman than I. Much. Yuk.

bunny2 · 15/01/2004 22:50

Uggh, I had a nightmare about rats last night. There were lots of them living under my sink, it was awful. Motivated me to clean the kitchen floor today though. Do they still carry the plague?

Jimjams · 15/01/2004 22:51

Not the ones in the UK bunny

musica if you ever have to do mice again arm yourself with a pair of thick rubber gloves- they stop most bites. Don't think they'd stop a rat though.

Thought not as soon as I posted!
