Try to keep this short:

I desparately want a Mini Cooper, had promised I would treat myself to one when I qualify (2 years away).
dh has said he will buy me one now and pay for it for 2 years but then I will have to take out a loan for the remainder of the cost.

I have seen a fabulous mini today £12k, everything I want but cant help thinking I'm being a bit spoilt, as I have a perfectly good car, but the other half of me thinks we're not here for long and I should just go for it.

Any opinions valued Smile

all4girlz · 23/04/2006 17:43

oh enjoy it nothing nicer than a new car especially if it is something you really want.

We did many moons ago brand new hyundai coupe r reg dp b4 he was dh and(well bfore kids) loved every thing about it leather seats the shape the smell cruise control (think i might cry?! Sad remininces

life is too short traded it in for a new kia 4 yrs ago bl**dy kidsrecently got a zfira but is not my dream/ideal car --go for it and enjoy it rememberto say ta to dh/dp

Prufrock · 23/04/2006 17:45

efinately not. You promised yourself this as a reward for when you qualified, which you have not done yet. IMO (and experience) getting yourlself your big reward now will simply devalue it - you will feel guilty for having it when you haven't really earned it yet, which will detract from teh joy you should feel at treating yourself. Wait, then in 2 years time get it and be happy in teh knowledge that you deserve it every time you get into it.

mosschops30 · 23/04/2006 18:09

yes but we have 2 kids so havent got the excuse of being pre-kid frivolous!
oh i dont know Sad

my friend got one last weekend, neat! but she did take one of my friends kids on a booster seat and it was fine, but the boot aint worth talking about.

hermykne · 23/04/2006 18:45

neat as in small not american slang

mosschops30 · 23/04/2006 21:22

yes I can fit the baby seat in the back, and will probably have to swap my buggy for a slightly smaller one.

so can I justify having a 12k car for no other reason than I WANT IT!!!! [spoilt brat emoticon]

please I need lots of people to tell me YES (although the more sensible among you will say no Grin)

you were going to get one anyway, if dh says he'll pay for it for 2 years then go for it. any enjoy it.

I'd love to be able to get a new style beetle, they look fun Grin (sorry, am not fond of the new mini, its just not 'mini' for me)

mosschops30 · 23/04/2006 21:28
