We now have a bright green hall and I hate it. He decided what colour he wanted to do it and I tried several times to talk about it but he didn't want to know. So, rather than have a row, I let it go. Have been away at my parents for 2 days with ds and have returned to something I just can't live with. What to do? We are in a ground floor flat with a long hall and so there is no getting away from it. We are both off work all week so now would be the time to do it.

Advice on tact and diplomacy please!!

Is there no way that you can 'dress' the walls with pics/quilts etc to try and over it. Otherwise just tell him

spinach · 20/04/2006 09:53

tell him it makes your eyes sore!? or gives you a headache?

expatinscotland · 20/04/2006 09:54

how about one of those crown wall effects coats over it - they make ones that go over the paint and do stuff like give it sparkle, etc.

Live with it quietly for a couple of weeks and then explain that you really didn't want to say anything because of his hard work etc, that you've tried to live with it but you really can't stand it.
That way he won't see it as a gut reaction, he'll realise that you've tried to like it and you appreciated his effort (well hopefully he will Smile).

How old is ds....couldn't he accidentally draw on the new green wall in crayon.

Agree you have to wait a few weeks at least.

hah ... we painted our lounge when we first moved in and I hated it

4 years on .. still hate it .. but don't really notice it tbh

what does DH think? I would refuse to comment personally and try and find some huge pictures

could you tone it down with a colourwash?
