As a lot of you know, my husband has had cancer 3 times, and is doing really well currently. He is just waiting for his radiotherapy.

So, for the very first time, I am doing the race for life on 1 July at Temple Newsam in Leeds. (I am not a runner either, and don't exercise!).

If anyone wants to sponsor me even the smallest amount, you can do so on the race for life website \link{http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/hodgkinsrunners\here}

Oh, and if anyone has any advice for a new runner it would be much appreciated!

How did you find out so fast, does it show on the site?

SleepySuzy · 18/04/2006 14:02

Yes, it shows straight away. And apparently just giving send the donations to cancer research weekly - it's dead clever. (I'm easily impressed, arent I?)

SleepySuzy · 18/04/2006 14:06

Hehehe, and now I have a sponsor, there's no getting out of it, is there? Off running with mum tonight.

But - having sent my request for sponsorship around my workplace I have raked in £300 worth in two weeks - I cannot believe it - so now I am seriously pooing myself about running ! Have just rung local gym to find out about memberships and am going to see it tonight after work ! Blimey - this is SO not me !

SleepySuzy · 18/04/2006 14:43

Well done for doing this Suzy, hope it goes well. Have sponsored you on the website!

Let me know how it goes and make sure you (a) wear a good bra Grin and (b) have someone waitin with lots of water and some champagne at the finish

Good luck Smile

Posey · 18/04/2006 20:39

Good luck with that. I'm doing it too, having not run for 20 odd years. Am training with a friend and taking it quite slowly, but impressed with how quickly you can improve.
Norah - where abouts down south are you? I'm doing the one on Hampstead Heath.

SleepySuzy · 18/04/2006 20:40

Thank you so much, Teacups!! You must have heard about the size of my bazookas!!! hehehe

Just had a run tonight with my mum and 11 and 9 year old nephews. They thrashed me!! lol, i'll get there.

hi there, I am also supposed to be doing the race for life but as usual no one wants to sponsor these events. I see there's talk of exercise and training. (I jolly well hope not as I will be walking it, not running it)!! Grinso far i am racing for a tenner ha, ha Blushim hoping for a last minute flurry of sponsers that I have already approached but still I feel a tad disappointed towards the lack of support!

teacups · 18/04/2006 21:27

Supakids, have you posted a link so we can sponsor you? Smile Every little helps, according to lord tesco of sainsbury Grin

SleepySuzy · 18/04/2006 21:34
