DH thought giving DD a biro to draw with was a bright idea... now have a coloured in banister in a rented house.

Any advice?

You could paint over it. Have you tried a wet wipe or warm soapy water?

What about one of those new Flash pad things (the name escapes me, sorry). I got biro off our walls with it earlier in the week.

Sympathy, Flamesparrow. We've got gel pen on two walls in our rented house thanks to ds. Trying to summon up the energy to paint over them, but the 'getting permission' part is putting me off.

One lot came off with just wiping... the other is thicker though :( The "permission" is madness... please can I paint over white pain with white paint?

Wet wipes might do it. Alternatively, you can get this "magic" stuff from Robert Dyas. It's sort of a block of white foamy material. You cut of the amount you want, wet it and it seems to remove virtually anything. Can't remember the name and am too lazy to go downstairs to find mine Wink.
