What do you use to clean germy things off your carpets?

In our new house we've got carpets everywhere except the kitchen, and it'll be some time before we can replace them with anything else.

What do you use to clean your carpet when it has been weed on, pooed on or worse, when teh cat has disembowelled her latest catch?

I am of the "swill neat bleach around" persuasion when faced with anything vaguely germy, but can;t use bleach on the carpet. Can I use disinfectant?

I would use vanish for a stain, but it doesn;t have enough of a "kills all know germs dead" type guarantee for me.

invest in steam cleaner as this kills most things
well worth it
also a carpet cleaner you can hire from the likes of b and q and homebase are cheap for the day

bicarb of soda and vinegar or soda crystals disovled in water does the job for me.

Wee btw is sterile and not a problem to clean up really if you do it straight. Bicarb gets rid of the smell. Grin After all wee used to be used to dye clothes and to clean stains off them too!!!
