try confused.com - worked out great for hubby
or esure - usually my cheapest.

foxinsocks · 07/04/2006 19:37

we used the AA - put in all our details and let them find the cheapest quote

every time your insurance is up for renewal, they check for lower quotes - we have just had our renewal form through the post and they have found a quote that cuts our insurance in half, saving us around £400 this year so I'm very pleased with them

Flamesparrow · 07/04/2006 19:37

how about one of those we search for you sites? I used confused and they cameup with kwik fit for us.

Check what they are offering though. My car actually caught fire (not while I was in it, I returned to it to find that the fire brigade had been in attendance!) and had a hire car for a week, for free while I sorted things out. That was with Norwich Union. If it really comes down to it you may need that extra stuff. They also disposed of the old one for me, for free etc etc.

I used to ring round every year and they always gave me the best offer.

I think on the AA site (or we may have eventually done it on the phone), you can specify certain terms that you want

I'm with Esute atm, and found it at least £100 cheaper than the other places I tried (I'm in London so have ridiculous car insurance, have 72% NC and still pay £550(ish) pa) The only one I found cheaper was Sheila's Wheels (which is an offshoot of Esure anyway) The only reason I didn't swap was because I'd have had to pay 3 months up front to pay by DD (same with all insurers I believe)

elephant are quite good

Norwich Union are great if its clear cut, get everything done within a couple of days, but we had someone take the side off our car in ntl van, but they'r e insurance won't contact NU and they were doing nothing about it until we threatened to contact fsa. We were with admiral last year, and bell (who are owned by admiral) this year (still waiting for our no claims to come back) and they've been fine. Elephant is part of admiral too.

Diamond & Kwikfit fight over me every year, I play them off against each other when they ring and swap regularly. Kwikfit do give you a 10% off card though.
