I had a friend (30) with a neighbour like that (70 odd). He would always wash her car for her.
Turns out he was working himself up to ask her out!!

madmarchhare · 05/04/2006 13:17

Literally, he is washing my car. I can see him out of the window. He has done it before, but we thought that it was because someone was coming round to look at his house (yes, really).

I want to go into town. Do you think it would be cheeky if I went out and told him to hurry up?

Can't you just go out, get in it and drive off?

Or is it covered in suds?

madmarchhare · 05/04/2006 13:19

Having just peeped, its still soapy. Pmsl though, that would be funny, can you imagine the look on his face.

that is bizarre.

However, had a neighbour once who, whilst we were out of work, attached and planted a window box to the font window and another time, dug out a 'shape' in the lawn and planted a bush in it.

waterfalls · 05/04/2006 13:20

Does he just clean it without asking youShock

oliveoil · 05/04/2006 13:20

lol, yeah just storm out, give him a look, shove him out of the way and do a wheel spin off the drive.

oliveoil · 05/04/2006 13:21

Lol FeistyBird, when you say shape....?

schneebly · 05/04/2006 13:21

Like a kidney shape - really odd - just came home one day and found a bush in me front lawn - everything he did at the front of his house, he mirrored in ours.

He even painted our house once.

madmarchhare · 05/04/2006 13:25

Now that is weird

Can't you go out looking harassed and rushed, when you see him look suprised and say something like "Oh wow it's very nice of you to wash the car but I have an apointment (at x/y/z) in 10 minutes" and give him a lovely smile. Surely he couldn't be offended then???

My neighbour kid washes my car but I have to pay him :(

madmarchhare · 05/04/2006 13:32

Ive just peeped again, he appears to have finished. Trouble is, he'll want to chat for ages and Im going to feel all ungrateful.

FGS, its not that easy you know when people want to just do nice things for you for no reason, huff puff....

OP posts:
Feistybird · 05/04/2006 13:37

Go out looking harassed and glancing at your watch and say.

'Oh you are a darling, thanks, we must have a cup of tea and a chat soon, but have just got to rush off now'. Bye'
