i passed my test back in 1994 and dp passed his in 2002

how come ive got more on category than dp had got on his? eg i can drive minibuses but dp cant! eh

They have brought in tighter regulations.

For some categories you now need to take extra tests.

I have just looked at mine(took it about 20 years ago) and says I can drive all kids of things. does that mean I can or I have to take a test?

well it was before I passed my test in 98. I think it was about the same time they changed the rules for how long you can ride a motorbike on provisional - about 95?

NO, if you have the categories on your licence then you are ok to drive those vehicles - unless you have been banned of course Smile

People who have passed since the changes would have to apply for the relevant categories if they wanted them.
