how about a previa? That can have 2 rows of seats and quite a lot of room in the back as the back row of seats folds up

biglips · 05/04/2006 11:39

i dont know anything about them... had it got a long wheel base (had it got a long space in the back)?

Not sure if you'll be able to hire one but they do exist - you need what's known as a Crew Cab or Double Cab that has 2 rows of seats and seats up to 6.

A Previa is just a people carrier - nowhere near as much room as a LWB Transit.

CountessDracula · 05/04/2006 11:50

oh sorry didn't realise it was a whole house worth of stuff!

Feduptoday · 05/04/2006 11:51

sorry yes it is Grin

Feduptoday · 05/04/2006 11:52

oops! its me Biglips!

Skribble · 05/04/2006 12:03

You do get transit vans with a second row of seats behind and a wall behind that to split it. It doesn't leave that much room behind. Is it for the entire contents?

zippitippitoes · 05/04/2006 12:04

This is evidently a silly question..do you drive biglips and have you a car?

Feduptoday · 05/04/2006 12:07

zipp - yes i do drive and no got no car

as sil was thinking of getting a hire van AND a hire car from fri till mon! but got trying to see if we can just use a van instead... or poss better if she had a company to collect her stuff and deliver in a big sort of lorry

zippitippitoes · 05/04/2006 12:10

I think I'd try to get a discount on hiring a car and van from the same place

Skribble · 05/04/2006 12:12

I think you will have to get a removal company and you all go in a car. Or hire 2 vehicles, one will probably have to be a luton or similar box van and perhaps a minibus.

It is amazing how much room everything takes up we used 2 large transits, 2 estate cars, a large box trailer and a landrover with a small trailer. We only stayed in a small 1.5 bed flat and struggled to squeeze it all in.

Skribble · 05/04/2006 12:14

I take it you both have the D1 on your licence or is it C1, that allows you to drive minibuses and large vans. I can't.

Feduptoday · 05/04/2006 12:23

well ive got both on mine and none on dps BUT he drives his bosses works van which is a long wheel base high roof van

Dh has hired vans from them before and they are nationwide.

Skribble · 05/04/2006 12:36

Yes its ok to drive large vans, but there are restrictions for bigger vehicles and if they have more than 8 seats. \link{http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/vehicle_cat_desc.htm\DVLA}
