Why are some kids/young people so nasty?

DS got a new bike for his birthday (15th March).

I have just gone outside to find that the young teenage lads playing with the neighbour have broken the bell off his bike. They have also ripped the steering wheel off of his tractor/trailer.

The bell isn't a big problem, I can buy a new one but the tractor is unusable and not fixable so wil have to go to the dump.

Why? FGS what pleasure do they get from destroying a 5 year old kids toys??

I think some people are purely spiteful and downright jealous tbh. It's like people who scratch new cars with keys. Your poor little boy. Yes tell the parents - but somehow I bet it won't bother them.

They were all playing football (nicely I thought) letting DS hang around. It wasn't until after they had gone that I noticed the damage. The neighbours kid is generally an OK kid not bad at all for a young teenager I think that some of the ones he plays with aren't quite as nice but don't know where they live.

Unfortunately they had all gone when I discovered the damage.

Tell the neighbours anyway. They'll want to know their kid is hanging around with ruffians.
