£5 coins---forgive me if being thick, but r they legal tender?

are they legal tender yet?
it's just that i have never ever come across one whilst shopping etc. but hubbie says he's seen a couple.

we've got a few, not quite sure what to do with them, they are special issue but legal tender i believe

so it's just the gold "special" ones that are worth more than £5 then?

As long as the coin says £5 on them they are legal tender. There are tokens that are the same size and look the same but do not say £5 on them and they are not legal tender. You can swap the proper £5 coins at the post office

No, sorry, none of them are legal tender.

In fact, you could be arrested for treason if you have one.

Anyone gets any, send them to me and I will make sure they are disposed of in the proper fashion.

There was a whole thing about them on This Morning last week - I'm pretty sure it's not just the gold ones that are worth more than 5.00... it might be worth looking on the This Morning website in case all the info is on there.
