Any ideas on what we can do with old Xmas cards? My ds is 2 and I thought we could pass an hour or so doing something crafty! I can't remember what we used to do when i was young (it was so long ago )

Thanks for all you suggestions. We're going to try kmg's suggestion first - the big Xmas tree with little pictures stuck on like a mosaic. In fact dh is out now getting me a Pritt Stick and a big cardboard box! Thanks again all

Could you do papier mache with old cards, to make home-made Xmas tree ornaments...? I was thinking do ball shapes in gluey newspaper, and then as it's drying, glue the pretty parts of cards on the outside, in some kind of overlappping way, to make it pretty? Crazy idea?

No it's not actually. Dh has just phoned from supermarket to say he can't find any Pritt Stick there so my first idea might be on hold for now anyway. I do have some of that PVA/"peel off your fingers when it's dry" sort of glue though. Do you think that would work if I watered it down a bit?

Or you could make flour and water paste. I made some for ds the other day and it's not clear but it works! Just mix some flour with some water, a bit at a time and hey presto! Glue!

That sounds a bit more child friendly. Can you tell this is my first child and I was 33 when I had him?! I've forgotten all these useful things from my childhood and I was rubbish at art anyway! Thanks again - can't wait for them to get back from the shops now so we can get started.
