Looking to book a holiday right at the end of the summer holiday, and need to make sure dd won't miss the start of term (seeing as she will be going into reception)

Sometimes they stagger Reception start times, ours was a few days later than start of term iirc. Best thing to do is to give the school a ring.

Trouble is we haven't been given the offer yet so I don't know which school it will be.

which area are you? most london council sites have a list of term dates

ours says 6 Sep

On our LEA website it said 1 Sept which I thought was ridiculous because it is a Friday and I also wanted to take the last 2 weeks of the holiday. So I checked with the school administrator and she told me that it is a training day and the children go back on the Monday.

yes, the 1st, 4th and 5th are inset days for us apparently

But training days are arranged by the school so it could have been a school day although I assume the majority of the schools in the area will have it as a training day.

Seems as though she will be back at schoole sometime in the week beginning 4th sept. Have just booked the holiday and it was double the price to go the week before Angry .
