How to get felt tip pen out of carpet....

My living room carpet. Lots and lots. Red and Blue... Not attractive. what is the best treatment?

are they Crayola ones which are waterbased? If so it realy is just lots of water that will get them out.

Not sure if will help but with ink on clothes
spraying on hairspray then sticking them straight in the wash gets rid.
Maybe spraying hairspray on then giving it good scrub with soapy washing powder will do the job but thats only a maybe.
