Advertised stuff, sold 2 items out of 14 Angry.
One item - unable to contact buyer, disappeared of the face of the earth so having to do a non-paying buyer dispute. Second item - lost in the bl**dy post. Angry Angry Angry
I'm not going to bother next time - just take it down the charity shop, it ain't worth the hassle.
Rant over!

she has recalled the payment hasn't she? Has she returned the bag?

Airy · 02/04/2006 17:08

Did she open a paypal dispute to get the money from them? If she did you should have gotton a chance to respond before they refunded her.
I'd email paypal and explain the situaion to them. They can't refund her if they havn't given you a chance to respond to her claims.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 17:12

Airy and Misdee
She STILL has the item. She filed a dispute w/PayPal and they took what was in my account w/o awaiting a response from me at all. And the ONLY response PayPal is allowing me to give is to add funds to refund her.

So basically I'm being ripped off. She still has the bag, which she bought for £10 + £3 postage AND £7.32 of MY money!

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 17:26

it's also not letting me use an alternate email address. i'm on mat leave and can't access the one it's got.

the credit card they have on file was swallowed by a cash machine a week ago. it's been cancelled.

SomethingAboutMary · 02/04/2006 18:01

Thats paypal for you, but i thought that you had to be contacted first before they removed the funds from your account? I opened a dispute because i brought an item & the person never sent me the item, paypal then contacted the person & then they automatically toke the funds from her account & paid me back, Good job that they dont have your C/C as they may take it off that, it does say if they have to cover any of the costs they WILL recover them.

She is a right Bitch can not believe she still has the bag this can not be right, surely she has to return it?

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 18:03

apparently it's okay for people to rob others via this method.

well, the card's no good. it's gone, gone, gone! gave my husband the money and then ate it all up.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 18:10

i've just downloaded a complaint form from the Financial Ombudsman.

am NOT going to go on Ebay EVER again. for any reason.

Skribble · 02/04/2006 19:47

In the past month and a half I have sold 41 items, the only problems I have had are,
Forced to upgrade Paypal account to accept credit cards meaning I have to pay Paypal fees on everything, didn't want too but over 50% of my buyers were paying with credit cards and Ebay was letting them pay with cards.
1 person forgot to pay me but payed up once I opened a dispute, she payed straight away and replied saying she already had.
A couple of U.S. buyers payed only the UK postage instead of the international, sent invoices for the extra.
Over all I am OK about Ebay but not in love with it, I have made about £100 in the past month and £92 on 1 second hand jacket.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 20:17

Update: have reported the dispute to Ebay, b/c Ebay is now marking the buyer as not having paid for the item.

Have discovered that the trouble PayPal is having w/the FSA is that they are not responding to seller's complaints regarding these chargebacks. Thus, I have phoned PayPal to get a postal address, b/c I plan to send them a letter via Recorded Delivery w/my concerns tomorrow.

Have also reported the issue to Square Trade.

If you google 'complaints against PayPal' in the UK, you get LOTS of hits.

Unfortunately, some buyers have twigged that PayPal is an effective means to rob sellers of a product.

Cam · 02/04/2006 20:56

But don't forget that ebay owns PayPal.....that's how ebay makes its money, so ebay wins whatever....

Must say I have never used ebay, something about it doesn't add up to me.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 20:59

i've filed a dispute w/Square Trade as well. I'd like for buyer to prove item wasn't as I described. I'd like for it to be proven this bag isn't leather. To an independent examiner.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 22:08

anyone who's been had by paypal, let me know, i found some good contacts.

let the letter writing begin!

JoolsToo · 03/04/2006 16:48

I only have a very small amount in my Paypal account - just in case anyone decided they wanted to help themselves AND even though I have PP I always ask for cheques in payment - that way I don't get fleeced by PP.

Horrendous story expat!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2006 16:50

well i have nothing now. and no item, either.

but you know what's weird, JT? i have NO idea how all of hte sudden, the transaction showed up on ebay as unpaid item, and i got a message about its being unpaid. i mean, this was AFTER we'd both left feedback for each other and everything.

how did they know the buyer had yanked back the payment?

i opened a dispute on it, fwiw, b/c however it came to pass, they're right - the item is now not paid for and no longer in my possession.

i've had £24 stolen from me by this buyer.

JoolsToo · 03/04/2006 18:08

keep us posted expat - surely they can't get away with it?
