DH and I had a conversation the other day about how old we feel, and we both wondered when we would feel like an adult, we are most certainly adults, both in our mid 30's and with 2 kids but still feel like kids ourselves, when will we be grown up.....

Some days I feel 18 & other days I feel 84!!

fastasleep · 20/03/2006 19:19

I usually feel about 20 (am 19) but then sometimes about 12 when taking the P... and sometimes about 35 when being all mumsy (quite often actually)

Troutpout · 20/03/2006 19:31

I feel about right...ie in my 30's...and i do feel like a grown up.

madmarchhare · 20/03/2006 19:34

I always look at other adults who I know are the same age as me and think they are more adult than I am.

I am 33 but feel about 20, although after a bad day I feel and look 50.

WideWebWitch · 20/03/2006 19:38

Oh I keep looking at twentysomethngs and thinking I look like them and I SO DON'T, it's tragic really. Where's the what age is old thread, I want to read it?

cyan · 20/03/2006 19:39

im 22, but feel miles older since having ds. none of my close friends have children, and i feel v mumsy when im with them. they all go out and get drunk/clubbing/doing god knows what and im at home looking after my LO. my pals make me feel ancient.

chickenwings · 20/03/2006 19:40

I am 32 but feel much younger. Maybe I am in denial about growing older but I am always convinced that all the other mothers I meet are older than me!

tobysmumkent · 20/03/2006 23:57

Yes, I'm nudging my late 30's but feel early/mid 20's and that every other mum on the school run is a "grown-up" except me!

Pruni · 21/03/2006 00:00

I'm 33 and feel much older, tbh. I feel how I expected to feel in my fifties. I assume it's a temporary thing, small child and all that.

hmmmmmm, often feel old (hanging on to 39) but not mature enough to have a child in High School.

eidsvold · 21/03/2006 00:12

heading towards late 30's and do not feel anything like it - think in my head I am around 30 or so.... then I remember how old I am. Think being one of the few in my friendship circle with young children helps me feel like that - others have teenagers and I have toddler and babe.

yummimummy · 21/03/2006 00:34

Hi Eids - found you here....
I'm also in late 30's and absolutely do look like I'm 25 ( fit, tanned, athletic, clear, wrinkle free complexion).
[who am I kidding emoticon]

nightowl · 21/03/2006 01:39

im very childish (sense of humour), i think im quite an annoying person. but physically i feel about 60. im 28 soon and find that these days, i forget my age. (not vanity either, i really do just forget).

nightowl · 21/03/2006 01:40

but i got asked for i.d. at the pub a couple weeks ago so there!

suzywong · 21/03/2006 05:01

I feel 30

am nearly 40

Dh said I looked it too Smile , 30 that is

PollyLogos · 21/03/2006 06:07

I am 49 but don't look that old (I think)Most people think I am younger because they look at my children and assume I had them when I was in my 20's, whereas I had the first at 32 and the last at 38.I don't feel my age at all.

I remember my grandmother at 84 telling me that in her head she still felt young but that her bod could no longer do what it did when she was young!

When I look at men in the street I always check out younger men (late 20's - mid 30's!), then I remind myself that i should be looking at men in their Late 40's - 50's and frequently am very disappointed at what i see!!

carlk · 21/03/2006 06:26

I a m 42 and have always acted about 18 aven as a child.
I know ,I know typical bloke, still behaving like a kid

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 21/03/2006 06:59

Im 23 and feel about 30 most days.

2 kids within 15 months makes you grow up pretty quick.

Ive always been one to act older than I am however I do look at others and think that I am just a baby myself and shouldnt be so grown up and mumsy.

DH is 27 and feels about 80 mainly due to his medical problems, but at heart is about 16!

FrannyandZooey · 21/03/2006 07:28

I am still mentally in my early 20s. Agree you see everyone else at the toddler group and it's hard to get your head round the fact you are the same age as all these mumsy types.

Look late 30s though :(

harpsichordcarrier · 21/03/2006 07:38

yes I feel about my age I think (36) but in a good way - confident and secure. thank god I don't feel like I did in my twenties - ambitious driven and constantly restless. it was exhausting tbh.
I'm a much better mum than I would have been then

nailpolish · 21/03/2006 07:46

i still feel about 22

often get told i dont look my age lol

purplemonkeydishwasher · 21/03/2006 08:04

I feel somewhere between 12 and 24 (i'm 30)

lucy5 · 21/03/2006 08:07

I think once you hit 30, you feel thirty there on in. I was thinking this morning that im only 5 years off 40 and there is no way I feel that age but somehow I dont feel 20 either. So i'm going to stick to being 30!

mythumbelinas · 21/03/2006 08:25

I'm in my 30's, and feel it (not the same energy i once had .. sigh) but i get told i don't look it .. probs coz i don't act it Wink
