Ice hockey: Can anyone tell me what kit is needed?

Dh used to play ice hockey about 10 years ago. He stopped playing when we met...which I've never stopped feeling guilty about even though he made the decision on his own without any input from me. He was in the navy we hardly saw each other initially so he dropped the hockey to spend more time with me.
Anyway, he bought himself a pair of ice boots recently and has expressed that he would love to take ice hockey up again. However he's coming up with every excuse in the book why he can't...the kit being one of them.

I honestly think its a confidence thing....so I'm going to get him the kit for his birthday which is soon approaching and see what happens but I don't have a clue what he needs apart from:

a helmet

bump for the night mnetters

DH also plays, I will check with him (I won't be able to get back to you with it for a couple of days) but here is a list of things that I know he has:

boots,
sticks,
protective gear - helmet, shoulder/chest protection, dangly-bits protector, shin pads (I don't remember if he also has thigh protectors and I can't remember exactly what he wears on his legs.
Legwarmer things, shirt, leggings.

he;ll need:
Helmet (with shield)
Neck guard
Gloves (special hockey ones)
shoulder pads
elbow pads
hockey pants (which are actually like big padded shorts)
jock strap
shin guards
jersey
hockey socks
and a bag to keep it all in.

I've convinced him to contact the local team who have asked him to go down on monday to have a talk.

Feeling a bit like a pushy parent now though so am not going to go on about it though I'll still get the kit for his birthday.
I really hope he gets somewhere on monday as he really needs to get out and about, he's been down a bit.
oh and there is the fact that he looked pretty damn good suited up
