I have just come across this. I remember watching Richard Attenborough's programme about them once. Can you imagine them all marching down your street? Grin Grin

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 13:17

and don't worry about rhubarb, she doesn't need them for christmas this year, she's already got them.

Naughtynoonoo · 17/03/2006 13:17

Ouch, see the man walking around the golf course in his bare feet - he was brave - I would have been tempted to put one of them with the golf sticks!

Radley · 17/03/2006 13:17

PMSL at the people taking them out of the golf hole and shoes.

But to be honest, that would all freak me out and it must be horrid driving down the road and hearing all the crunching.

I don't know which is worst the fully grown ones or the baby ones, eugh!

Radley · 17/03/2006 13:18

You bitch DC Grin

Naughtynoonoo · 17/03/2006 13:19

I liked the way they piss the babies out, wouldn't mind if human labour was like that -

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:20

Must have caught them from you then DC! Remember, a crab is not just for Christmas guys!

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 13:21

yes, and there is something else....

does it burn when you pee?

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:23

I'm sure it burns them when they pee out their babies yes, why don't you ask the ones you have dear?

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:23

Oh I forgot, they don't really go in for raisins do they?

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 13:25

i don't remember seeing that on the documentary.

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:27

David Attenborough definitely goes on about them prefering large sausages to raisins, more breeding ground you see!

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 13:28

oh FFS, you're on crack! lol

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:30

Do we think we've just corrupted this thread?

anorak · 17/03/2006 13:30

I saw a programme on Nat Geographic about them, don't know if it't the Richard Attenborough one. It was called Red Crabs and Crazy Ants.

Showed you the gory details about how the ants invade the crabs and eat them alive. Very gory but a really fascinating programme.

\link{http://www.gps.caltech.edu/~enadin/Travel/Alaska_0705/websize/rhubarb.jpg\you think this is big, you should see my crabs}

Littlefish · 17/03/2006 13:33

We saw something similar (but not quite on the same scale) on a small island near Fiji. We were on a scooter and kept having to swerve to avoid running them over! They were all heading for the sea.

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:34

Recognise \link{http://www.timelesstrinkets.com/Other/Images/CalRaisinMiniSmHandsUp.jpg\this?}

Naughtynoonoo · 17/03/2006 13:35
