Budget?

For my best mate's 40th ... I kidnapped her 3 boys and took them on a photo-shoot.

I took 4 photos ( 3 singles and a joint ) in Blak and white and mounted them.

They were quite good - but the thing that really got her was that I had taken the time and they had managed to keep the secret !!

Budget is probably under £150.
Photo idea is good but she has no children and is in fact currently going through ivf! She has been having a bit of a hard time recently so would be good to cheer her up. Any more suggestions?
Thanks everyone who replies

For my best mates 40th, I dug out some old photos from our distant past (school days, social, wedding, etc), made a collage and decorated it. I then framed it with "40" confetti scattered inside. I was really pleased with the result (as was my mate!). Deffo a one off!

well for my 40th recently I got a voucher for pampering from my lovely mn friends, a voucher for a photo shoot and large print from db & sil. I said i'll have to have a makeover 1st and they said they thought I'd like it for dd AngryGrin. Also got a theatre ticket and loads of champers, crystal, a lovely book (also from mn friend). Any ideas there/

How about a night in a hotel? I got one from boots for my sister. One night b & b in a nice hotel was £150

Another idea (and one that I now ask for each birthday) is a voucher for a spa evening. For my 40th, dh paid for me and my two best mates to go to the local posh spa for the evening. It was lovely - had a flotation, dinner and then some girly chat over a glass of vino - perfect!

My best friend gave me a day at the spa in the Sanderson hotel (in London) as a 40th birthday present. It was fab.

I have to come up with something to give to her as it's her 40th this summer so will watch this with interest.

My 2 best mates rented a cottage up north and we had a weekend away. Didn't cost that much but spending time away and together was a real laugh !

Hmmmm-if she's the girl who has everything she probably has spas Choos and posh dinners up to her eyeballs.
Is there something she's always wanted to do/learn but never had the chance (eg sail, play guitar, scuba dive, mountain-climbing) You could book her a trial lesson or alternatively give her an IOU for x lessons of whatever her secret ambition is.
Does she have other friends who could chip in with you? For my hen night a good pal organised a screening of my favourite movie at the Covent Garden Hotel-they do a package with dinner or brunch-think it was about fifty quid per head. I think you can also book individual tickets eg for you and her or her and dp to go to a screening of whatever theyve got on with dinner etc -website is www.firmdale.com.
Or-if she likes a tipple I was given a 1969 (year of my birth)Armagnac as my leaving present from work- I was pregnant so what with that and BF never had any but was assured by DH and his mates that it was amazing!!!
Or a picnic hamper and a trip out to her favourite beauty spot???
A vintage car on hire for the day?
Sorry for length of post....but love a challenge!

Wow You lot are great. Some really good ideas here.
She does do the pampering spa thing and nice restaurants a fair bit!! Something I did find was a makeover/make up lesson from a company called blush who come to your house with loads of make up and update your look. They also do parties which might be a laugh.
Love the film thing think i might drop hints for that for my 40th.!
OOh and the recording studio. I have heard of this before. Again more suited to me I think.
My friends took me for a private salsa dance lesson as part of my hen do which was a good laugh. It was somewhere in Camden. Just thinking of ideas for you otto!
