Used to drive through it on way to college and never had a high opinion tbh - worlds apart from West Byfleet and Weybridge imho

I live not to far from it & would not call it a "dive" can not really see what is wrong with it..... in my opinion Byfleet is a "dive" i think maybe you should go and hview the house & look round the area then you will know how you feel. You need to get a feel for the area Smile

notasheep · 16/03/2006 22:19

oops maybe a dive wasnt a choice word, but i am still with Weybridge

annh · 17/03/2006 09:53

Be aware that Byfleet and WEST Byfleet are not the same place and there is a huge difference between the two! The house you are looking at in Addlestone looks lovely and if you move more towards Weybridge or West Byfleet it will cost you about 100 grand more which might be an issue! Don't know about schools in Addlestone but the primary schools in West Byfleet/Pyrford area are generally excellent.

Can I just say that the reception classes in west byfleet are all full as having a problem getting a place for dd...

The state secondary school in Addlestone is not good at all. The nearest good ones are Heathside in Weybridge and Salesian (RC) in Chertsey - neither are particularly easy to get into from outside the catchment area.

There is an excellent independent school in Addlestone.

On the discription of that house it says new haw then it says addlestone, these are 2 different areas so which one is it in, i think it is in new haw which is nearer to west byfleet. I live about 15 mins from new haw but don't know much about it to be honest i know weybridge is lovely.

I only drive through new haw to get to tesco's & also there is a tesco's in addlestone.

Hi, I have just caught your thread - did you ever move to Addlestone? I'm interested in a house there. I currently live in weybridge but want a house with garden thats bigger than the house! Any opinions welcome!

Addlestone is a nice place to live and is benefiting from regeneration of the area. Lots of green spaces and places to visit nearby.

The trains into Waterloo are terribly slow from there. There is certainly no tube or bus option to get into London as its too far out. Doesn't matter if you don't need to reach London on a daily basis though. We looked at Chertsey few years ago (lovelier) but had to drop it for the same reason of poor links into London.

You can always change at Staines or Weybridge for a faster service.
