charliecat · 11/03/2006 18:08

quick go buy some clipsGrin You can clip it back and regrow it!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, mother of 2 dds, ive done it.
And the worst hair cut dd1 ever had was from the hairdressers, so even they get it wrong.
Shell be fine:)

Marne · 11/03/2006 18:08

I did the same to dd a few weeks ago and started a thread about it so no your not an idiot, well if you are so am i, dd's is growing back now, just stick a hat on her head for a few weeks (when you go out).

Blackduck · 11/03/2006 18:13

Did ds's with clippers - he looked like something out of a remake of Oliver Twist Grin

picnikel · 11/03/2006 18:14

oh well, snow forcast tomorrow so at least we'll have the hat option.

there'll be some sniggers when i drop her at nursery monday no doubt, oh dear! Blush

My sister attempted to clip her husbands hair... she forgot to put the guard on the clippers, and he ended up with an inverse mohecan; a big strip up the back of his head. He looked like a convict when he was finished with. Their marriage survived. Smile

Passionflower · 11/03/2006 20:10

Emergency purchase of alice bands required I reckon. Smile

crazydazy · 11/03/2006 20:12

Does she have a sibling? Blame it on them when you go to nursery. Grin

WickedViperWitch · 11/03/2006 20:12

I have done the same, dd looked AWFUL, I just grabbed the scissors and did it because she was right there sitting still on the work surface and her hair was in her eyes but I accidentally cut it WAY too high so she had a crap wonky line fringe about 6 inches up her forehead. took a few months to grow out, looks fine now!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/03/2006 20:18

WWW...6 inches up her forehead???

I do hope that was an exaggeration!!

Grin
2Happy · 11/03/2006 20:18

Tee hee hee! Cutting her hair with the kitchen scissors huh? and you try and say you're not turning into our mother! You know you're going to turn up at dd's school in dirty wellies don't you?! Grin

WickedViperWitch · 11/03/2006 20:20

Well, ykwim LTH, maybe a teeny exageration but it was right up to nearly her hairline. She probably thought 'blimey, I can SEE!'

I did this! I can only cut DS's when he's asleep as he's so hyper.... I'm quite good at it now (who am I kidding, I'm letting it grow long!!) but he has been very wonky in the past Blush not quite as bad as TearsBeforeBedtime (mts)'s DS who once had graduating 'slices' through his hair from his fringe backwards which was very funny!! (Sorry MTS) Grin

LadyTophamHatt · 11/03/2006 20:23
Grin

I just hope you didn't call her conehead for all those months it took to grow back!

(LOL....i even measured my own forehead to check 6 inches wasn't normal....maybe it is and I'm really weirdGrin[grin[)

Troutpout · 11/03/2006 21:45

oops ! yep clip it back untill it grows
i would be crap at that...this is the reason why dd has no fringe

RedTartanLass · 11/03/2006 22:09

picnikel, my mum did this to me when I was wee, and I still have the emotional scars Grin and unfortunately the school photo to prove itShock

I was about 7 and still remember!!! Grin

Flossam · 11/03/2006 22:11

My mum used to cut a fringe. Then decided I was better without one. so she would grow it out. And put it up in a little pony tail at the top on the side of my head. I am permently scarred from this till today. Sad

lucykate · 11/03/2006 22:14

when i was little, i played hairdressers and shaved my brothers head Blush. it was all patchy and my mum had to shave him bald Shock

ThePrisoner · 11/03/2006 22:26

My eldest dd vividly recalls the time I "trimmed" her fringe a little, and it wasn't very straight, so I trimmed it a little bit more, still wasn't straight, so a bit more trimming ... and she ended up with a teeny, spiky little fringe sticking out from the middle of a centre parting.

(And I cut off my eyelashes and eyebrows once ...)

BadHair · 11/03/2006 22:29

Oh yes. My poor dses had dreadful haircuts for ages. I have pics of them looking like they've got pudding bowls on their heads, with wonky fringes and lopsided bits.
Poor ds2 had very long hair when he was 1, and I cut his fringe very short. He looked like Dave Hill out of Slade!

ThePrisoner · 11/03/2006 22:37

(Think Dave Hill was probably my dd!)

ja9 · 11/03/2006 22:43

it'll grow.........

pull the bit that's left back and fasten with a pretty wee hairclip Wink

picnikel · 12/03/2006 12:55

ThePrisoner - that's what I'm afraid of, I'm desperate to try & straighten it up but DH won't let me as he reckons it'll just get shorter & shorter.

No sibling to blame either.....

I was telling one of my sisters and she reckons she's still traumatised my our mum cutting her hair really badly as a teenager & the inevitable knock on effect at school....Blush. Does this mean I'm turning into my mother who (as 2happy alluded to) had a habit of picking us up from school wearing the most unbelievable filthy johdpurs imaginable, wellies covered in horse shit and straw in her hair.....Oh GOD!!!!

Even better, hon, if you do as the lovely ladies suggest and put a hair clip in, you run the risk of doing what she did to me and the other dsis - there are people from LT who still remember us for the vile, huge pink and purple hair clips we both had! But to make you both feel better, I once cut my own fringe a la Miss Tiggiwinkle, then blamed dmother because I was so embarassed of what I'd done! Was dsis's the one where her schoolfriends nearly marched her back to the hairdresser to complain, so she had to fess up to who'd actually cut it?
