I am going to make a time box (not sure if this is the right name) for my friend who is due next week. So far I have only thought of putting the following in:-

The Times paper for the day they are born
possible a tabloid too (but one without boobs)

The cd single of the week that is No. 1

Maybe the No. 1 DVD

Has anyone done one of these? what else did you put in it? I need inspiration!

A receipt from a Supermarket, sounds really boring but i imagine will be quite funny in 30 years.
I have memeory boxes for the dd's, same thing kind of.
I also have their bounty books for each pregnancy as i think it will all be different when they have babies and they'll look at me in horror saying "Did you REALLY FEED me at 4 months"?Grin

i think it is a lovely idea, i done one for my children, but i think it's something you could start off but your friend would have to carry on, i had newpaper, polaroid 1st picture, 1st baby grow (which i put in once they'd outgrow it) completed bounty book, 1st lock of hair a new born nappy, there 1st teddy i done a scrap book that contained all there birth congratulation cards, 1st christmas cards and 1st birthday cards.

how about getting a beautiful box, a newspaper, 1st teddy, newborn baby grow then just fill the rest of box up with things like baby bath lotion, talc, nappy sacks, sudo cream, wet wipes, maybe a pack of newborn nappies, a dummy!!!!!! some gripe water, cotton wool, things like that. that way you can explain to your friend that the 1st 4 items are for the start of her babies time box. the other stuff are all useful bits, i bought a babybath and filled it up with baby goodies, my sil was over the moon with the gift

the "toy of the year" (I think it was a bratz doll last year)

How about a catalogue, like an Argos one, or something lighter. Would be hilarious in 30 years!

mogwai.... your argos catalouge idea is sooo cool

Was thinking about this in bed last night...

what about the current stamps from the Royal mail

that weeks cinema listings!

Maybe a copy of the current radio times!

a photograph of the family car.... you can imagine 50 years time "those were the days... you had to PUT ON your seat belt, open and close the doors yourself, the tyres COULD puncture so we would carry around spares, we even had to use PAPER maps to guide us the way to go... and our car didnt even have a TV or internet access... we had to do it from our mobiles... also no fridge included etc etc etc!
