and what happened? have you settled there, and have you moved your kids to a different school? we seemed to have out grown our lovely house now we've got four children.can't afford to move up in this area, so what to do? move to a cheaper area into bigger house, or stay put? (we are very happy here, got a fab garden and secluded spot but the house feels a bit cramped sometimes)

it would depend WHY the other area was cheaper....

We moved county to get a larger house, but it was only 5 miles away from where we were before. Glad we did it/

We moved because when we gave up our pub we couldn't afford to rent in the same area so moved somewhere cheaper. We have got a (very small) 3 bed house and garden for less than we could have got a 2 bed flat in our old area. Luckily as we have a car my dd is still able to go to the same school so no problem there.

Actually, it's turned out great. We didn't get to know our immediate neighbours that well before despite living in the pub for 10 years (they didn't approve even though the pub was built before their house - figure that out!) but people here are really friendly. In fact, if we are ever able to afford to buy a house we would try and get this one even though it's a bit cramped, just cos we like it here so much!

We planned to sell up our fairly large (for us)house and downsize to a cheaper area We sold our house quite easily but while looking around seriously we have realised why location is everything as big house = not so nice area

yes, last year, from W6 in London to SE23, best thing we ever did. We exchanged our small 3bed terrace to a 5bed semi. Space is everything when you have kids I think! We are very happy here, have made some new friends, I can shove all toys behind a closed door if I want...
